You're welcome! It was featured in the latest Bible Society magazine Word In Action that came out a week or two ago and so I scheduled a post for today to coincide with the relaunch.

Thanks for the link, Pete. Would you say, though, that the Uniting Church in Australia or the URC here were resounding successes of institutional union? And does the Johannine perspective really mean institutional union primarily? I can't see that in its original context and the likely assumed original readers.

She can't even get her Covenant hyperlink right - she links to the Anglican-Methodist Covenant when David Gamble is quoting the Covenant Service. Moreover, she grossly over-simplifies the hurdles to 'unity'. A very disappointing piece.
Fantastic post, Pete, really brings out the multi-layered meanings of the Fourth Gospel on this subject. Will be interested to know what you make of the Shirky book. I read it last year and thought it was brilliant. Something the Methodist Council could do with reading? :)

Dave, these two posts have been brilliant. Thank you. I've managed to type up a quick post of my own for tomorrow morning, because you've connected with a recent conversation I had with a friend.

Brilliant idea, Dave - this is how to use Web 2.0! Have emailed you from the address linked to my Google account.
Thanks, Pete. So much to say in response to you, Dave, Richard and David H that I ended up writing my own rather involved post here. Now you can enjoy the rest of the Council!
Thanks for such a helpful post, Dave. I wanted to say a lot in reponse to you, Pete, Richard and David H, so I've written a long post here. But at this point, thanks for such sterling work. For your sake on the Council, I'm glad you won't have to feel worried about open discussion before Council meetings again.

Tbanks for the link, Pete. Ryan Bolger has commented on my post today with a link to his piece on the same news, which is worth reading here.
Pete, Thanks for this. I guess I'm the sort who can only do one thing at a time, but for those who can multitask, it's no surprise they tweet during meetings. You could argue that the paper going to Methodist Council is a piece of control freakery, but since I don't move in those exalted places I don't know what the atmosphere is like. What I do know is that the Pope is more positive than the Methodist Church - see my follow-up post.
