Absolutely! And the more specific the praise, the more credible you become. For example: "That's great" is pretty generic. What's better is: "That's pretty savvy of you to choose software that works on both Macs and PCs, plus on your smartphone."
Carrots...ah yes, I've got mine. But sometimes, believe it or not, the job is the carrot. Sounds sick and workaholic-y, but if you make the company culture good enough, the thought of selling anything else for any other company sounds horrifying. If I sell, then I get to stay!

The main difference between salespeople and lawyers: Salespeople are trying for a win-win. Lawyers are just trying to win. Therein lies the problem.
A deceptive sales script also pairs well with a butchered pronunciation of the prospect's name.
