I've gone down to the 1-at-a-time, 2-per-month plan. It's worth it for me as a supplement to all my other sources of entertainment.
I can think of only two movies I've returned to Netflix without finishing. One was "Cannibal Holocaust," which I found so deeply disturbing that I had trouble sleeping with the lights off for weeks. The other was Michael Moore's "Canadian Bacon." I just found it so stupid and poorly made that I had to stop it less than halfway through. It's very odd, because I love his documentary stuff.
Just last night, I decided to cancel GreenCine. I like the company, but the shipping and availability issues reduce the value for me, and I have other options. BTW, this is Dave from MN who posted the first reply.
I'm in Minnesota and have seen extremely slow turnaround with GreenCine. For example, I put my last movie in the mail on Thursday or Friday, November 2 or 3; GreenCine showed my next movie as having shipped Monday, Nov. 6; But I didn't receive it until today, Monday, Nov. 13! I imagine CT would take even longer. Also, many mainstream titles (notably, in my experience, TV series) seem to have slow availability. I hear they have a great selection of anime titles (I'm not enough of an aficionado to have an opinion on that), and they also carry adult DVDs. For some people those factors may outweigh the slow shipping and spotty availability. By the way, I'm not necessarily blaming GreenCine for the slowness of the shipping, and they seem to have very good service. But they just don't have a national infrastructure remotely rivaling that of NetFlix or Blockbuster.
Here's my experience, for what it's worth. I returned an online movie to a BB store for the first time last Saturday evening, the 4th. There was no sign of this on my online queue until Monday the 6th; The next title from my queue was shipped that day and I received it on Tuesday. Nice! The movie I had returned on Saturday continued to display in my queue until the Tuesday or Wednesday, but that doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't delay my next movie, which it didn't. I returned my second online movie around 11:30 a.m. yesterday morning (Saturday the 11th). Since it was relatively early, I had kind of hoped to see my next movie ship the same day, but no such luck. Still, the "bonus" in-store movie tides me over until Monday. Bottom line, I'm happy with the service so far.
