I love watching how things spread in that sort of lesson. One child will work out how to do something cool, a pupil sitting nearby will ask how they did it and then it sort of ripples out until it has been adopted (and sometimes adapted) by most of the room.

I haven't read how you got on yet but in my experience, it's worth spending the time on the preparation - especially if you are able to re-use it with a different class. The more prepared you are beforehand, the more you can concentrate on the pupils and what they are learning and the less time you'll spend worrying about what *you* are doing. Now that the teaching tutor in me has got that of my chest... I'll go and see what happened. :-)

It will be interesting to see how many "programming concepts" are picked up. Should be taught explicitly or is it enough that children are exposed to the concepts?
