Excellent, especially the look of the grain!

Julia Sarr-Jamois
Paris: Jardins des Tuileries Inspiration: Julia Sarr-Jamois is not easy to photograph these days. We all clamour but she politely declines, which makes us all want her photograph even more. For me, this is it. This was all I got . . . and it's grainy. Hardly my best work, at least technically....
You had me at Missoni (again!)

After the Missoni Show: Femme Fatale in a Sweet Dress
Milan: Via Festa Del Perdono Inspiration: Loved this sweet dress! Especially the lacy details that are almost (but not quite) hidden from view. For black and white photos of her, check out The Photodiarist.

Before The Guy Laroche Show: Flower Girl
Paris: Jardins des Tuileries Inspiration: Her whole look is a mix of unexpected elements . . . vampy shoes paired with a girly summer dress. A pile of large modern bracelets on her wrists with a flowered headdress . . .
Oddly enough, there was a picture of her on Café Mode (http://blogs.lexpress.fr/cafe-mode/) just yesterday!

Leaf Greener At Paris Fashion Week
Paris: Couvent des Cordeliers Inspiration: I love Leaf's colorful and inventive style paired with the glamour of Chanel accessories. For the black and white version, go here.
It is quite funny how being dressed up (as in; wearing a suit & tie) has become synonymous with dressing up (like for halloween)! It has become a style which is almost a caricature. I rather like the outfit, though.

Old School Flair
New York: 14th Street and 9nth Avenue Inspiration: There's something very "old-school gentleman" about his look -- something that I might see in the South but rarely here in New York. Maybe I am getting this feeling from the combination of the pipe and hat -- and the jacket in the middle of a...
These landscapes are rather untypical for you but I like that!

Scenes from Central Park
New York: Central Park Inspiration: I've lived in this city for over 10 years and have never boated in the park. Must remedy that ASAP.
That pic is very amusing. Well done.

"I Love New York"
New York: 59th and 5th Avenue Inspiration: Just another silly New York moment. BTW, TGIF. I cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow.
It sometimes make sense to take a picture that reflects an emotion. The whole world cannot be intellectualised without some meaning being lost in the process. Emotions are important. There are pictures I understand after seeing them printed or on screen. Most photographers know that feeling! (Cartier-Bresson certainly did, too) I woudl go as far as saying that the emotion faced with something (a bit of colour, bicycles...) is a form of understanding; just not a form of 'intellectual' understanding.

Bicycles
New York: Second Avenue and 10th street Inspiration: Sometimes I do something my photography teacher told us not to do. That is, taking a photograph without understanding why you are taking it. Here is one such photograph. Not sure why I took it but I quite like the jumble of bicycles. If ...
Great portrait but why is she wearing a SKI MASK?

Musical Girl
New York: Central Park Inspiration: My inspiration for the day is sun, warmth, being outside finally! Seriously, today is finally sunny and I hope warm (haven't been out just yet). After days of rain and cold and clouds, we deserve it! Black and white photograph of the musical girl right he...
I should have thought the point of such a coat is to be in command: it looks like an armour to me - not you?
The silhouette it gives is very odd. I give it the Magnum silhouette: like the famous icecream, it looks like a heavy square top on a ridiculously thin basis!
Well spotted!

Big Fur
New York: Lincoln Center Inspiration: This photo kinda fits into my shadow series, albeit taken a couple of months ago! Her fur is dazzlingly white and just so huge. When I first saw it, I feared it was swallowing her alive. But then I realized that she was indeed in control of the thing.
They are beautiful because they are functional! Well spotted; thanks for sharing.

The Scaffolds
New York: Broadway Inspiration: I love the architecture of scaffolds. They are ugly in a beautiful way.
You should just call the picture that: "I don't kiss on a first date", that would make the whole picture + title absolutely terrific.
http://davidikus.blogspot.com/
PS. Of course, I don't understand the point of not sleeping, not kissing on a first date, but then, I am not a NYer & I am still struggling to understand the concept of dating (I always thought it is something people only do in movies).
Romance in the Tunnel
New York: Central Park Inspiration: I was photographing this tunnel again when a couple sauntered through. Then they stopped, seemingly unaware of me and my camera. He stared at her for the longest while. . . and she at him. Even though I couldn't wait for them to keep walking so I could pho...
The hoodie is fantastic too!
Thanks for sharing.

Leaf in Fendi
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: Leaf wearing very cool Fendi sunglasses. I love purple and orange-y hues together.
You certainly can, but may you?
Great coat design. Unpractical (the short sleeves) but very striking!

Can I Borrow Your Coat?
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: I am definitely an outerwear girl. I don't even want to tell you guys how many coats I have (not counting jackets or blazers). It's crazy, this passion of mine. And I bought another one today (um . . . to celebrate spring and Easter and all of that). In an...
Do you think it is permanent? I love the way it somehow manages to match some of the pink squares at the bottom of her dress. A very well thought-of outfit. It must take her hours to style herself!

A Shot Of Pink
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: I loved the color of her outfit, but frankly, the shot of pink in her hair really caught my attention! It seems that injecting a shot of color into your look can be as simple (or complicated, I suppose) as dyeing your hair in a brilliant hue. She did it too!
This looks great in black & white!

Zanna Roberts of Marie Claire
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: Zanna Roberts, Senior Fashion Editor of Marie Claire, right before the Ralph Lauren show in February.
There is something of the elegance of the Husky in her attire. I like it!

Icy Blue
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: I am happy that the time for furs are almost behind us and sandals are beckoning! But I remember loving the icy blue color of her vest, especially when paired with a darker blue skirt and gray sweater.
Who said fashion only liked slim people? Great pic! Very militant.

Glenda Bailey of Harper's Bazaar
New York: Hudson Street Inspiration: While I love love love love the Vogue franchise and its aspirational sensibilities, I've often found Harper's Bazaar to be more user-friendly, down-to-earth and informational. Maybe that's a reflection of it's editor-in-chief, Glenda Bailey. I've heard tha...
To be honest, at least in Europe & certainly in France, jeans were even skinnier than that when Hedi Slimane ruled over Dior Homme. This is a rare case where change in fashion came from menswear, later to extend to womenswear. Perhaps there is a boomerang effect? It's back to the men now? Perhaps NYC / the US are only buying in the skinny/slimane revolution now? Hard to tell.
I somehow wonder whether these jeans look more like hipster jeans than real skinny jeans (not that I am *entirely* sure about all the differences between the two).

Skinny Jeans
New York: Union Square Inspiration: Men's jeans are getting as skinny as women's. Will we start seeing men in jeggings soon? Or is that already the case and I've just missed the trend?
& moi qui croyais qu'il s'agissait d'un hommage subtile à Elizabeth Taylor !

The marrying kind

Hurray for the return of the wide leg!

"This Message Is For Springtime . . ."
New York: Lincoln Center Inspiration: "This message is for Springtime. Hi. Um. . .you told me you'd be here on or around March 21 or March 22. Those dates have come and gone but you have yet to show your face for any substantive period of time. Kinda rude, actually. I told you the last time ...
Nice smile indeed. I really like the setting of the Lincoln Center too (it looks a bit like a sedate version of Brasilia).

What a Smile!
New York: Lincoln Center Inspiration: She's wearing a lovely outfit (including some great Chanel wedges), but her best accessory in my humble opinion is her bright, happy smile.

You had me at Lanvin.
Of course, I shall never win but the prospect of spending ten grands on Lanvin suits & jackets is too tantalising...
Let's wait & see. Shallow, shallow me.
