The Day After
Child Looking at Santa on the Beach Originally uploaded by State Library and Archives of Florida I am almost certain this is what Santa will be doing on the day after tomorrow. A little relaxation in the sun will be well deserved. My road trip to Arizona was fun, but I woke up with a sore throat the morning we left and have been sick since. Managed to rally for the time down there but now that I am back home I am exhausted. Really ready for a few days off. Since we celebrated our holiday early with both families... Continue reading

New Sweater Projects
CC Cardigan Originally uploaded by DawnSellers One thing I continue to learn over and over about myself is that I like to start new projects. I have lots of ideas that constantly pop into my brain, I get really excited to get started and then just as quickly, lose interest. Sometimes I’ll pick up the project again and finish it sometimes it will linger for years and sometimes it will just get tossed out or unassembled and the pieces used for another project. What does this all mean? How can I focus and finish things? Remember that NaNoWriMo thing? I... Continue reading

Hello December
rainbow11_26_10 Originally uploaded by DawnSellers It is so hard to believe that December is here already! This month is jam packed with activity for us including an early Christmas celebration with Doug’s family at the beach, which we haven’t even started shopping for, and then Road Trip! Doug & I will be hitting the road in our new to us travel trailer, pulled by our cube truck filled with antiques. We will be traveling to Arizona to set up and sell in Quartzsite. I’ll road trip it down with Doug & the Chihuahuas and then I have to fly back... Continue reading

This weather makes me want to curl up on the sofa and knit
Harmonia's Rings cowl/scarf Originally uploaded by DawnSellers Unfortunately there are many things that get in the way of just curling up with a blanket, a cup of coffee and a new knitting project. Work being the biggest obstacle. I have started a new knitting project - Harmonia's Rings Cowl in a wonderful merino wool. It is knitting up quickly which is always nice. The days are so short now, dark when I leave for work and dark when I leave for home. Carrying this little knitting project along does help though. NaNoWriMo update: I am not nearly where I should... I am going to write a novel - I am entering a scary jungle
Ferns Originally uploaded by DawnSellers I keep repeating those words to myself this morning. Every year when November rolls around I remember that it is time for NaNoWriMo (check out the website for all the info nanowrimo.org). Every year I say to myself "I should do this". Well, this year I have signed up. I've been thinking a lot lately about writing, I even have a few plot ideas. The big question of course is - when will I find the time? I've been browsing the forums on the NaNoWriMo website and reading some of the suggestions for beginners, lots... Continue reading

Life Is Good
Pinto & Cocoa were meant for each other Originally uploaded by DawnSellers I’ve been hanging out at the mall lately. Everyday this week, that is where I have spent my lunch hour. I’m loving the free wi-fi at the Barnes & Noble and that I can just grab some lunch at the food court – so many choices. This reminds me of my teenage years when hanging out at the mall was one of my favorite things to do. Different mall, different friend, different city but still the mall. It all makes me feel rather sentimental. I’ve been thinking a... Continue reading

In with the Sunrise, Out with the Sunset
July_2010 008 Originally uploaded by DawnSellers Cocoa is thinking of starting her own clothing line. Last night we enjoyed a great show at Portland Center Stage http://www.pcs.org/ We have seen Sunset Blvd. Before but it has finally been released to be done by smaller theatres so were anxious to see what Portland Center Stage could do with it. Overall, I recommend it. The set was simple but worked beautifully. I loved the moving staircase. The costumes were amazing, sparkling, feathers, & fur. I loved how they did such a big show on such a small stage and how they made... Continue reading

October Sky
October_2010 Sky Originally uploaded by DawnSellers I've been sick these past few days, crummy, yucky sick! But the work doesn't stop and I've been as busy as ever. I did take one day to just stay down, which for me meant staying home and catching up on laundry. It seemed to work, I'm finally feeling human again. One of the things I love the most about the Pacific Northwest is the amazing weather we have in the early fall. This photo is totally untouched, just snapped with my little Canon Elph - which I found after having 'misplaced' it for... Continue reading

I think Fall is Here!
MCCALL MAGAZINE COVER, GIRL IN RAIN Originally uploaded by George Eastman House The leaves are all changing - beautiful colors of orange, red and yellow - and the rain has started. I'm starting to feel the chill in the air and actually pulled out the leggings this morning to wear. I considered the boots, but just couldn't bring myself to put them on just yet. The Chihuahua Army had their photoshoot last night and they were so much more behaved than I ever imagined. It may have been the fact that the treats never stopped, but they were all so... A peek at my Steampunk costume
Steampunk Originally uploaded by DawnSellers Last weekend I took some time to work on part of my Steampunk costume for the upcoming Time Travelers' Marketplace & Ball happening in Hillsboro, October 9th. I will be vending at the Marketplace - all kinds of fun vintage clothes, accessories, books and just a great selection of stuff! So, I will need one costume for daytime, when I'll be moving around, setting up and helping customers and another for the evening Ball. I decided rather than start from scratch with fabric and patterns, I would do a bit of creative upcycling to come... Continue reading

Hanging in There
Azuki keeping an eye on me Originally uploaded by DawnSellers So much work to be done and so little time. This time of year is busy, add on top of that a couple of big projects that I can't yet post but believe me, they are big projects! Still working on the Time Travelers' Marketplace and Ball scheduled for October 9th. I am starting to feel like we are not going to get everything done that needs to be done. Yikes! The October Art Walk includes a partnership with Pacific University and their art opening at their new Health Services... Continue reading

Recovering from the long weekend
The only laboring I did yesterday was the two loads of laundry I finished last night. The majority of my day was spent sitting in the salon while my mother was getting a perm for 4 and a half hours! I think I read every issue of US and People magazine, I am now completely filled in on who is doing what with whom and who is wearing what for fall. I also had my hair cut, short. I have very thick and straight hair. It was mid way down my back and I had lost all motivation for curling... Continue reading
