I was at GopherCon EU 2022, in Berlin. (No public sketchnotes this time; the Why at the end) While the past two years had conferences in the online variant, this was my first where I had a chance to better chat with other participants. While the other, online, variants also... Continue reading

I made my first public speaker appearance at GameDevDays 2019, which I somehow also treat as a closure of a decade(s) old thread of mine. (If you're here just for my sketchnotes, they are at the bottom) To be precise, this was even my second attendance to a game developer... Continue reading

So I recently was at GopherCon UK 2018. My second GopherCon, with the first one being GopherCon IS 2018, just a few weeks before. This post is my impression, including my sketchnotes. Continue reading

I was asked via Twitter what my needs were for an editor for software development, after I expressed that Sublime Text satisfies them. The concrete answers that I came up with initially could have easily been countered with the fictional question "Well, doesn't editor X do this as well?" This... Continue reading

Continue reading

Continue reading

Looking for a new constraint to use at our local Coding Dojo Vienna I took a constraint I heard about and gave it an extra spin. Due to further circumstances, I ended up coding under it myself. Continue reading

The newest update focuses again on program structure and build sequence. Again a few realizations, but I hope I now can start with the actual business logic. Continue reading

This week I concentrated on getting the OpenGL/WebGL functionality of my Go project tested automatically and run from a continuous integration server. I had a lot of dependency issues, but at last I have now most of what I wanted. Continue reading

This weekend I spent a lot of time on implementing the simple triangle example based on OpenGL ES in Go for my second milestone. There were again a few interesting revelations. As well as two simple bugs for which I had to invest extra hours. Continue reading

For the project I reached the first stage where one can see something: A green background. Quite a few discoveries along the way why there is nothing more to see, but also why there should not be more to see. Continue reading

As described previously, I want to create a Game-of-Life simulation written in Go, with visualization using both OpenGL and WebGL through Go-to-JavaScript compilation. This post now describes the plan, requirements and general rules. Continue reading

Last week I attended the SoCraTes 2014 in Germany, the conference for Software Craftsmanship and Testing. Similar to the XP2013 conference last year in Vienna, I went there with an open mind - and came back with a head full of ideas. Continue reading

Due to stagnating interest in my previous pet projects I found myself without one. As always, I would have a few ideas here and there, but none gained enough traction to commit spending a significant portion of free time. But due to a recent comment by another fellow software craftsman, two ideas were married to match up. Continue reading

So, Fanfest again. There hasn't been a daily summary for various reasons; A major one was that I didn't have proper secure internet access (the hotel only offered unencrypted WLAN). And second, well it didn't feel so special anymore. Don't get me wrong, it was still a great experience; But... Continue reading

In the style of a kino kabaret, yesterday started with a few experiments since the organizers managed to lock in all their keys in the lab for which the owner only came after lunch. We thus started the editing in the second place, where I did the voice over recording... Continue reading

So far it's business as usual; shooting on site and trying to catch the morning sun hiding behind a clock tower, visiting the kitchen of some stranger and voice-over recording in strange locations. Continue reading
