Hey! Is that the quilt you were telling me about? I love it! Love the pattern, too! Can I borrow it?
My Latest Quilt...
This one only sat in the "to finish" pile for a year - that's got to be some kind of speed record! I love this quilt - I had planned to give this quilt to newly weds when I pieced it last year...but after THREE emails asking about colors and size and getting NO response, I took it as a sign tha...
You are simply the most wonderful friend in the world! Thank you for everything! And Jill, too! I feel blessed!
Flowers and Owls...
Another year, another wedding season - which is starting rather early! My house smelled like a florist shop this weekend...hydrangeas (flown in from New Zealand as this is definitely NOT hydrangea season...why do brides always pick flowers that aren't in season?), beautiful roses and assorted g...
She's a living doll! I am so happy for your wonderful family! Hugs to mama for doing such a great job!
She's Here!
Baby Elsa arrived this morning at 7:54 weighing in at 7 lbs. 14 oz. and she is 20-inches long...to say she is beautiful would be lying, she is gorgeous! Elsa looks just like her big brother Max...and her mom and me!!...and she's as sweet as can be! Now I know what it feels l...
Love, love, love, love AND love! And who's birthday is just around the corner?!! I call birthday lunch on Friday! ( Dec 9th) Yes?!!
Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!
The boy and I have been very busy - Christmas is up and ready for business! He helped me get the perfect tree and set it up for me...what a good lad, perhaps I'll take his name off the naughty list (his vacuum skills leave a lot to be desired but they usually improve a few weeks before Christma...
Holy Sacajawea, that looks delicious! And so did the pie!
Sagaponack Corn Pudding...
Before I get to the best tasting Corn Pudding you'll ever eat, I need to share the boy's big news with you...The boy needed a pie...his church group was having a pie night and he asked me to make him a really, really good pie - bragging rights were at stake! The boy only likes chocolate pie so ...
Arrived late, but saw the flowers and they were beyond amazing! The cake was completely gone, so that's a sign of extreme yumminess, as well! You are exceptional!
Pretzel Bars...
I do love weddings - and helping with them. Everyone is usually so happy and excited. I was lucky enough to help with a good friend's wedding a week or so ago - I did the flowers, which always includes harvesting from friends yards, (I'm usually asked to do a bit of pruning while I'm picking.....
Soooooo pretty! Did you know this was where Spencer had his Utah reception? The bride, the flowers, the cake, all perfect. I see a bit of "Aunt Nan" in the bride's pretty face!
Gabby's Wedding...
The week before the wedding I went picking...in my friend's yards. I picked laurel, jasmine, japonica, salal, heather, azalea, and mini-rhodies...all the greeney I would need to make 10 table arrangements, 2 large arrangements, 1 book table arrangement, 1 bride bouquet, 8 bridesmaids bouquets...
This takes me back to my eat-a-thon in New Orleans! I need to go back!
Mustard Remoulade Sauce
When we lived in Rogers, Arkansas, hardly a thriving metropolis, in the Northwest corner of the state, I just about went nuts...hold your thumb and index finger one inch part...I came THAT close! We lived in a beautiful home, and the countryside was pretty, but there were more cows than people ...
Let's do a rocks, paper, scissors duel for Claudia's quilt!!! So pretty!
Quilt Group Friday...
Due to six-inches of snow, our quilt group meeting had to be pushed back a week! I was thrilled, as I was out of town on our regularly scheduled day...so now I can show you the amazing quilts! You might as well make yourself comfortable, I've got a lot to show you - so sit back, relax and enjo...
And I would place your books in a place of honor in my family room, free of dust, and displayed year round! (you are right up there with Ferdie! wink!)
Savory Pumpkin Scones...
I was invited back! I'm the Guest Post-er-du-jour over at Sew We Quilt/Stash Manicure today. Now brace yourself...I'm sharing all I know about the world of publishing! Yes, it's a rather short post, as I know very little, but IF you are interested in getting your quilt book, pattern book, n...
Don't forget laughter! A good laugh every day is exceptionally good for the heart & soul! It's medically proven! Loved your guest post, Nan!
The best thing is about to happen as a result of your blog.... are you ready?!!! Kirstin wants to learn how to quilt! I know she makes recipes from your blog all the time, and now this?!! It's more than any mother could ask for!(dabbing tears from corner of eyes)
3rd Blog-a-versary Give-Away!
Three years. That's a long time. Three years of posts - some nauseatingly long, some embarrassing, in retrospect, some boring, bland and inane - and those were all the ones about the mister! But I love my blog - it's definitely made me a better cook and you would think a better quilter, but I...
Sitting at SeaTac waiting for a delayed flight to San Fran (stupid fog) and now all I want is a bite of this tart! Ok, Miss Nan, where should we eat in SF? You got an A++++ for New Orleans suggestions, so I am excited to see what you like in the City by the Bay!
Rustic Fig Tart...
A friend asked me why I haven't posted any Halloween projects - I guess I forgot! I've been busy working on a few things - nothing finished except this little ditty - which I totally ripped off from my friend Stephanie, the artist - go see my inspiration by clicking here. Stephanie is so creat...
I love that pic of you and Bernie! He gets bonus points from me for his participation!
Chef Andrea Consoli's Cooking Class In Rome...
The mister and I had not planned on taking a cooking class in Rome - but after two days of art, history, and walking non-stop, the MISTER asked if we could find one! Well, he didn't have to ask twice! I searched on-line and discovered Chef Andrea Consoli's class - and we got lucky and got in!!...
Darling! Yay for Kjarsta!
Sock Cupcakes, Sock Roses And A Diaper Cake...
When I was flat down with the ghombue, I sent the boy to buy me some baby things for a shower...he got everything I asked for and then some. I told him to buy a package of infant socks...ONE PACKAGE...he came home with 18 pairs of infant socks. He's thorough to a fault. After I got better, I...
Happy Birthday sweet boy! I know why your grandma loves you so much!
Happy Birthday Baby Max!
He is TWO!! It seems like yesterday we were all on pins and needles waiting for him to arrive... Our once tiny little baby is now huge in comparison...and so, so busy! He was just here visiting and my house looks like a tornado hit! One little boy - a whirlwind of fun - sw...
Well, don't tell the mister this, but I find if you marry a doctor, you get seen immediately, drugs appear quickly and magically to start working right away (no silly germie waiting rooms AND you can select ANY accent that you like} the money you save can then be spent on REAL home remedies like new shoes, or that new kitchen must have that then releases those marvelous endorfins that will put a smile on your face quicker than spit! Or, you can get out some smelly Vicks, your old humidifier, a truckload of fluids (flush, flush,, flush) rest and that darn remote! (Not as fun as the first suggestion!)jk :) I'm fighting the same bug, and I find that controling the mucus production makes the "getting better" process a bit more tolerable. That Mucinex D 12 hour is a good product, but not for folks taking any blood pressure meds, but the idea is less mucus, less going down and then coming back up, if you know what I mean. Sometimes controling the mucus production makes me feel less miserable. I hope you get some relief soon, my dear!
Celebration GIVE-AWAY!!!
What, you ask? Is it my birthday? No. My Blogaversary? No. A milestone post? No. Today is the first day I've been able to get myself out of bed! And THAT is worth celebrating! I've been sick, sick, sick...some kind of jungle ghombue...I'm sure there's a medical name for it but the docto...
They are gorgeous! Now who will finish them? Cause if you are not in a hurry I know someone looking for quilts to practice on with her new long arm.
Sew Day...
In less than 5 hours we were able to finish EIGHT quilt tops for American Hero Quilts...EIGHT! And that includes time for cutting, piecing and ironing, which you know I think is highly unnecessary! At one point even I broke down and ironed a seam or two...just to keep the natives happy, otherw...
