I'm IN! Maybe for some of the newbies we should host a 1-hour kick off session? Maybe some details on why we do it then some guides to paleo vs non-paleo foods talk? We have a lot of new faces so it might be useful for them...

I love seeing posts like this written by men. We, as women, can say it as much as we like- that strong is sexy- but sometimes it just sounds better when we hear it from the dudes too! Thanks for this. And thanks for the coaching today. I am on my way to a 200# Back Squat! WOOT! Diane @ Balanced Bites http://www.balancedbites.com

Oooh, this WOD looks fun!
I can't believe I didn't know this was happening tomorrow... the weather and darkness kept me hibernating and not working out Wed & Thurs... then today I dragged myself to 24hr to lift and put up some big #s for a Back Squat and Deadlift 1 RM. OOPS! I'll come in and shoulder press anyway... I don't think going for new 1RMs on the lifts I did today should happen though, right?!

Sweet! Thanks for sharing the post, Kat. Robb Wolf shared it on his FB wall recently and the hits on my website went nutso :) He's going to be posting a link to this post of mine on his FAQs section of his website as well, that's how much he liked it. So... it's "RW-Approved" info! Reminder: if ANYONE at the gym has questions about paleo nutrition or nutrition in general, please don't hesitate to ask me. I am a resource that you all have access to (at least when I make it out in the cold and dark weather to get my arse there!) so please let me be of assistance. See y'all tomorrow morning!
Wow, I designed the website for the auction and didn't know Cip was the auctioneer. Sweet- maybe I'll come check it out :)
Just an FYI re: the nutrition seminar- I'll be bringing some sort of small snack but feel free to scavenge for some food between class and the talk if you need to. Looking forward to it :)
Okay, I'm going to need to get the scoop on the 5-3-1 stuff when I'm back in SF since I decided to extend my stay a few days to catch Robb Wolf in Brooklyn. I'll see you guys back in the gym next week on Tuesday. I've been rocking some WODs at Guerrilla Fitness/Crossfit Montclair here in NJ in the meantime and having a great time there. Those guys are awesome- huge box and a great group of people. I'm happy to have it as my home away from home now. Last call for Guerrilla Ts if anyone else wants 'em. Check out pix on my FB page and let me know which one and size. I am hitting a WOD there tomorrow for my last time before I come back to SF. http://www.guerrillafitness.net/ Diane :)
Kat- maybe update the left column schedule with class times for Saturday noon addition and for elements? I'm bummed I'll be gone from the basement for 2 weeks but I'll greet you all nice and brown when I'm back in September :)

Looking forward to having this little cutie as my first WOD back from the depths of a nasty cold! See you guys later!
I've done both a cow share and a lamb share and for the price, you can't beat it. I think finding recipes for most any cut is pretty easy with a quick google search. I like to stock up on grass-fed ground meats of different kinds as well as pastured eggs (which you can even get at Whole Foods now) for when I'm in a pinch. My latest obsession has been a crustless quiche - which you can jam full of veggies and you could even mix in a pound of cooked ground meat into it for extra protein. I use the basic recipe I posted on my blog recently and tinker with it each week. http://www.balancedbites.com/2010/06/easy-recipe-crustless-quiche-with.html I am working on my lamb currently that's in my freezer, but if anyone wants to go in on a share soon, I'm game. I think I'm more into a lamb share than cow-- this lamb is off the chain! (The one Kat referred to above.) In other news- I'm working on a blog post about GLUTEN! What questions do you guys have after having done the challenge or just whatever you've been wondering about regarding it. I may make it a 2-part post...
Ghee rocks. I have a whole post on fats on my blog that paleo peeps would enjoy :) http://www.balancedbites.com/2010/07/fats-which-to-eat-and-which-to-ditch.html And one specifically about a confusing oil for a lot of people- canola oil... http://www.balancedbites.com/2010/06/canola-oil-may-be-paleo-diet-approved.html Enjoy!

Zac's suggestions all sound good to me. I know they offer some of that stuff down at the Circus Center periodically too. What's the scoop on the massages again? Did I miss them?

@Ebru- it's more likely the gluten/grains than the sugar elimination leading to the sinus relief. Gluten intolerance is a very common cause of chronic sinus infections/irritation.
PS- I can explain the "worse ways" to anyone interested sometime with regards to how gluten intolerance works... it's too much for a comment reply!
@Zac- I hope you know that you were always gluten intolerant, but it was going to manifest in worse ways than digestive discomfort later in life if you didn't eliminate it now and feel the pain... that's how the intolerance works. It's a gnarly little sucker! Good work on the elimination! Bunless burgers & bacon FTW!
I think I'm going to have a treat but then stay mostly on track. I do feel better not having my chocolate around ALL the time. Maybe it'll be a once or twice a week treat as I go forward- small pieces so I can't eat a whole bar at once :)
How cute :) I posted an easy Paleo-friendly recipe on my blog today for those of you who are eating eggs and are kind of tired of hard-boiled, scrambled or fried... it's a crustless quiche and SUPER simple. I don't go too crazy when I cook things. A few ingredients, mix, apply heat, done. http://www.balancedbites.com/2010/06/easy-recipe-crustless-quiche-with.html
Oh, I got it 'splained to me...
Um, how many pounds ground to overhead? It looks like 4600# on my screen...
I've been tracking food in Fitday.com - here's my link- http://fitday.com/fitness/PublicJournals.html?Owner=dianesanfilippo Meanwhile, I can definitely say that this weekend will be tougher than the week has been... already I'm kind of wanting some chocolate! D :)
diane.sanfilippo@gmail.com Day 2 on the challenge--- I want some dark chocolate- WAAH! ;o)

Feel free to email me if you want a PDF of my Sugar Detox manual that has tons of Paleo friendly recipes in it :) No grains, legumes, dairy or sugar-- just meat and veg based for the mostpart... Diane
