Blame Drew's Cancer for this Blog Post
Most of us have had an experience involving someone we love and cancer. Even when the beast is defeated there simply nothing funny about cancer. About 13% of all people who died in 2007 were taken by cancer. In the US in 2008, some 11 million people were afflicted by cancer. Drew Olanoff, 2...
Thank you for the support Shel.
The version of Hodgkins Lymphoma is indeed the version of cancer with a higher cure rate, however Lymphomas in general are definitely not. I am very lucky.
Also, we're not requiring tweeters to donate, but they can if they want to :) Direct to LIVESTRONG!
You rule, can't wait to read the new book!

This will be printed out and posted.
got hope?
I met Daniel M. Davis, owner of Steam Crow Press, when I was at the Phoenix Comicon. He's an intensely creative guy, and as it turns out, a Barack Obama supporter, just like me. Daniel and I are working on something wonderful together, and during our conversation this morning, I asked him if I...

hell to the yeah.
Wil says . . .
After I gave my keynote at PAX last year, tons of fellow gamers began repeating my "Don't be a dick!" motto. Several people suggested to me that we put it on a T-shirt. I was unsure, but on the last day of PAX, I worked up all the courage I could muster, and asked Jerry and Mike if they'd be int...

holy crap, i turned to my fiance last night during the show and said "we could do a drinking game for AG where everyone drinks with Hulk says "brother"". No lie.
It must be done!
announcing announcements
I have three announcements, ranging from cool to awesome, coming over the next 24 hours or so. They're all interconnected, so I could make them all at once, but where's the fun in that? I'm heading out to a meeting right now that's related to one of the announcements, so feel free to speculat...

ok that was the funniest kid + geek + kids girlfriend story ever. i can't wait to have kids man.
sure shot
Ryan and his girlfriend (who is awesome) went with me to Old Town earlier today, where I took a picture of this NO STOPPING curb painted on the corner of Colorado and de Lacey. "Why did you take that?" Ryan said. "Because I think it looks cool," I said. Ryan looked at the picture on my phone bef...

congrats to ryan! that's awesomeness.
i am so very proud of him
Ryan was just a tiny little towhead when I met his mom. Though he doesn't carry any of my DNA, over the last eleven years, he's become my son in all the ways that matter. He graduated from high school yesterday afternoon. My wife and I spent all of our free time this week preparing our house ...

i really need to read offline more often.
sounds like you have a knack of "getting away". you should post more about that or bubble up an older post, I think more and more people need to do figure out how to get offline more often.
give a hoot. read a book.
After finishing Monster Nation, I find myself in this joyful place, where I decide which book to pluck from the pile. Where will I go next? Into the past? Into the future? One thing is for sure, I'm tired of the present. All the nonfiction books I've accumulated over the last year, all the inves...

great post, and good job stickin' to your guns. if ads dont work for you, why have them? i think if you advertised something you really really dug, people would click/buy.
the great advertising experiment
In January, I began the great advertising experiment at WWdN. Back then, I wrote: Google AdSense is a complete joke and colossal waste of time and space, so I have begun working with Federated Media (mostly because my friend Xeni is involved with the company and I trust her, but also because it'...

i'm about to install ubuntu onto my new lappytop. w00t!
which linux distro is best for new users?
As a Linux advocate, I am frequently asked by all sorts of people which particular brand of Linux is "best" for a new user. It's a deceptively simple question, and if you ask ten different nerds, you'll probably get ten different answers. If you're lucky (and you don't ask a ponytail) you won't ...

Dude, watch Dexter. I've never watched a better written/acted show in my life.
walking with a dead man over my shoulder
Note: This title has nothing to do with this post, but Boingo just came on the "Xmas + Top Rated" party shuffle smart playlist, and it's as good as anything my brain has kicked out on its own in the last ten minutes. Hey, why don't we skip through a few days of television shows together? That'l...
