Cristobal will NOT be coming to UM as an assistant. He could be an assistant at the NFL level or get another NCAA gig as HC. If DNo is a gonner, it will be interesting to see who he goes with. I don't think Al can experiment with Barrow as DC, and I think Groh is old news. Gotta steal an up-and-comer from somewhere - NFL?

Drew - i do.not see us wearing black in any sport in the next century. Posted by: ChrisFreet | January 26, 2012 at 09:05 PM @Chris - Did something happen there? If you can't discuss thats fine, just kind of makes me curious as to why..

@Justin - Do we finally get out of our regional this year? Seeing how hard the ACC and the SouthEast in general is, what are our chances of hosting a regional?

Ohio - although I do not know what you know about Fisch, I do not think it happens.

Jorge Milian reporting the Bears will go after Fisch after NSD. I just got a little nervous. SOUP, U know why... Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 25, 2012 at 06:17 PM Tice already has the OC job at Chicago. Tice was then interviewing for a HC job at Oakland but he did not make the second cut. Now the Bears want Fisch to come in and be the passing game coordinator? Ok, I'm up in Chitown area (not a Bears fan but I do listen to their talk radio) Lovie is on the hot seat this year, he needs to have a good season or the new GM that the bears will get could very well fire Lovie after year one. That would mean Fisch is out on the street after 1 year. Now why would Fisch want to leave Miami where he has complete control of the offense and go to Chicago and be the passing game coordinator under Mike Tice/Lovie "Run the ball every play" Smith? This move makes no sense for Fisch. The Bears have 0 receivers. Their OLine sucks, they haven't even signed Forte yet. This move is a death wish if he takes it...plus its not even an upgrade in the coaching world. I think its a downgrade personally. I think Fisch will be linked to alot of jobs in the future because the guy is good with developing QBs and a pretty good play caller. Now after 2-3 years I think he has a legit shot as a NFL OC but right now I don't think he would want to jump on the sinking ship that is the Chicago Bears

Read that somewhere that he was quoted earlier in the recruiting process that he wants out of SoFla. Thats why I think he is/was/rumored leaning towards UF

Hearing Tracy Howard is 50/50. Not sure if he'll sign because he has said he wants out of SouthFla but Golden & co are definately making him rethink everything.

LB, Think how long it's been since we had a great D-lineman (Wilfork) & LB (Vilma & Williams. It's been along time for a lot of things! Posted by: herbieibis | January 24, 2012 at 04:59 PM Granted Miami does have some pretty high standards for best at position. Vilma, Williams, Wilfork are pretty big shoes to fill for any college play at any school.

ah Soup you beat me to it. I also heard that Goldman had his hand out during the recruiting contest but Golden wasn't having any of it. The SEC has shady business going on and everyone knows about it except the NCAA apparently. On another conspiricy note; the NCAA kept this pretty quiet but it is now against NCAA rules for a parent to act as an agent...ala Cam Newton. So its ok for Cam Newton and Auburn to do it but now after he's gone we'll make it illegal...sketchy

Hi all, don't have as much time to blog as I wish but I have been reading from time to time. Thought I'd throw out what I've been hearing/reading.. Tracy Howard - About a month ago he was rumored to be a lock for the Gators. Now we aren't hearing those rumblings. On one hand he has mentioned how he has wanted to leave the Miami area. On the other hand he's mentioned how he wants to make a big surprise on signing day. Also he said something like "I don't want to go where some team wants me, I want to go where a team needs me". The Tracy Howard camp has been pretty quiet so I don't know exactly how to read into it, just take it all with a grain of salt I guess. O and BTW his mom is borderline making his recruitment a circus, parents need to not use their kids to get into the spotlight. Eddie Goldman - Supposedly we have a silent commit? If we do my guess goes to Goldman. His finalists are FSU,Bama,Auburn,Clemson,Miami. Bama supposedly has no more room, however I'm thinking they would try to find room for Goldman if he committed. FSU if I remember correctly has plenty of DTs. Clemson just hired a new DC and I think its too late in the game for Clemson to make a move (If clemson gets him, def something dirty going on there). That leaves Auburn and Miami. He loves Coral Gables, loves the schools, I'm sure he likes the coaches otherwise we wouldn't have been in it this long. And once again immediate playing time would be staring him in the face when he steps on campus. These 2 are the biggest needs right now but like Ohio has said, Golden has backups ready. I think Golden is going to try and fill every scholarship he has because we could get hit with a redux next recruiting cycle

Pricy (like all Hiltons) but it is walking distance and very nice. For the bears games they have courtsey beverages ;)

I agree that best case is 8-4 next year...but my prediction is 6-6. The defense I think will be either the same or worse next year and offense I can't see being better. Very Very young and inexperienced all over. New QB, inexperienced WRs, inexperienced DBs and LBs. Depth along the DLine is going to be thin with lots of young guns

NOT that it matters but does our recruiting class finish in the top 5? That would show a very strong finish by Golden

I do know that several players were given specific clear cut goals to complete IF they are to return next season. Posted by: 86Cane | December 13, 2011 at 08:22 PM Was Forston one and then he decided to leave instead?

Sota...on Cooper I know that Golden is pressing hard and I have heard that Miami stands a fairly good chance to land him from a few sources. That is unless the $$$ starts flowing like water from the SEC schools then it is anybody's guess. Obviously he would be a great "get" for Golden at a position of need for UM. Posted by: 86Cane | December 13, 2011 at 08:19 PM I heard almost the opposite...odd lots of mixed messages flying around...

UM most likely to go after another RB with Lamar gone...Mike Davis just became that more important. Al Golden going after him hard and looks like we have a good shot here.

Recruiting tidbit - Josh Witt (3* OLB) IMO is a big sleeper. Hard nosed kit that loves contact. Looks like once he gets some muscle on him he will be a force.

Can't find the link but Perryman earned 1st team and Chickillo earned 2nd team on the rivals all-american freshman team. Also with all these losses to NFL and transfers that are yet to come, I'm thinking we will be right around 6-6 next year...Any other predictions?
