i'm so in love with this! and just stunned, with the certainty of un..certainty. such beautiful work handstories. <3 <3
what I know for certain . . .
That there is no large wall in my life, only a crumbling old fence, and it will have to do… That I'm calling "Uncertainty" finished. That the idea that this side began as the front seems strange. That I like how the backside of stitching looks. That some of the ...
this is so unbelievably sweet and adorable!! let me know how it all goes :)
she is loved by big and small
Started for her birthday last year, finished just in time for it this year. Embroideries of pre-schoolers' visions of her. Her "and her intestines". "With Ears" and in the sunshine. "Giving a Hug" and "With a Broken Foot". "Ellen the Lion". "Wavin...
a hug in his pocket with mama magic, and is that hufflepuff? everyone should have one! the world would be better. xxo
bug-a-boo
I'm not allowed to call Moon "Bug-a-boo" in public anymore, he is eleven, after all, but I am chanting it in my heart right now. Deciding to quit my job last spring was not just about me. It also meant that Moon would be leaving the school, too. He would not have his last year there ...
I read back to find out about this Research of yours! What a grand adventure and I'm glad you are taking a whole year to do it. More Grace for the rest of us. I know my answer already, but it still doesn't really give me a clue as to what to Do with myself. That's why I've been at a loss to blog, but maybe I'll blog about that. Anyhoo I'm so keen to read your year unfolding (in words and cloth).
"Living is wierd....." Saskia Van Herwaarden
it's been coming on for quite a while. but Saskia's comment on yesterday's post somehow set it in motion, gave it enough form to begin. I am going to devote this year to Science. Big Science, like Laurie Anderson knows. DEVOTE this year...these up and coming 362 give or take days (its alrea...
i love your patchwork curtain too. and your stacks, they make me want to reach in and play!! grace stacks they are clearly, by the colours. i've been gone so much from blogland that i also wanted to say hi and send love.
Day 33 and not much to say for it
a couple things i love these are whites that were dyed with onion skins maybe close to three years ago? i stitched them together in an effort to organize. very loose running stitch. and i can't remember why i pinned them to this curtain in the first place, but they have remained there and i...
ahhh, you made the brown work so well with the rays and specks!! all the detail stitchy pics are making me drool! hurry up and finish :D
still dusting
Not that kind of dusting! Adding more sprinkles on "fairy dust". Can't have too many, you know. Also some sun rays and specks. Allergies really are taking me for a loopy-de-loop. Moving quickly results in a "getting off the too fast merry-go-round" feeling. Trying to rem...

i'm in awe of you, and also very grateful.
three hundred sixty five
hee!! you should save this one for when you want to be left alone!
greetings
And how is your Monday morning going?
i'm just in awe of what you've accomplished this year. a very, very special cloth. and still much to be done with the borders. at least some of your feelings should be very proud!
only
Seven more till the end of the year. There are so many feelings about this. Important and not. I know that other things will begin, and that this is not ending. There are those borders. But . . . I am "rut girl". I don't like change. I don't like the first or the last ...
i see us! all of us searching. but we're here. sorry to insert myself into your stitching, just hadta!
sky sisters
Started this last night. Right now it's called "searching for our sister". I don't know why, it just is. Lots of thoughts in my head for it. Hoping they find a way to the cloth.

i can't believe you made this work!! such determination, sister!! and so beautiful.
a tale of two yarns
It's a good thing that I am more of a process than product person . . . This sweet pattern caught my eye a while ago, and needing a portable project for the last couple of weeks, it seemed just the thing. I spun up some pretty "Herby" roving from Hobbledehoy. . . not enough yardag...

i'm mesmerized by that expression. i blew up the pic to look closer. are you waving your hat in the air? i don't know that i was ever so....
so, it's July.
i don't really know what to say. it's all different. i know that i had intended to post lots of goat pics but that didn't happen. temps being at least 100, and friend Jane coming from Alaska, hmmmm. and we didn't ready the goats for the albuquerque dairy goat show. it would have been crue...

stitching at the sea side
well, we're back. And yes, I would love to go back to the Ocean in a wink. The winter garden was a treat and a really nice place to stitch. No wonder with this view: It's amazing how much you can sew, knit, spin and stitch in just 2 weeks, even with three hours at the beach each day, d...
oh that sky - a beautiful row that will make! and that song is mesmerizing. how wonderful for you to go to the reading, and i'm so glad for the recommendation, will have to find her book right away!
dawn celebration
Yesterday morning I was out taking pictures in the garden at dawn... (I haven't knitted this for the sky scarf yet. Today marks 10 months of knitting a row in honor of each day.) There is a song "Within the Rose," (which I discovered here) that is so completely stuck in my head right now. ...
it's wonderful to see and feel the beauty in your life, through your eyes and words.
a love story ~ a woman and her noragi
I had mentioned a few times, my beloved heavy duty hooded zipup sweatshirt. Of all the articles of clothing i own, this is to me, really, the most important. During a lot of the year, it goes over a thinner one and in the winter months maybe 2. It is my work jacket. It's hood is perfect, ...
i was just watching a video on gauge last night, and swatching for a cable pattern. i'm pretty much averse to swatching normally, but i did knit swatches for the sweater i'm knitting now, both in stockinette and in the cable pattern, but i just adjusted the needle size and pattern size after without re-swatching... i figured that a sweater is sooo much work and expense, you want to give yourself every chance of it fitting! but i have faith in you and your karma.
swatch . . . smwatch
While being helped so kindly at the yarn store recently, there was much advice given concerning how I should swatch for this sweater. She went on about how big of a swatch to make, how to wash, pin, and measure around the cables, etc... For those of you who don't knit, a swatch is a ...
poor little thing... we put so much into these little lives. like the baby rabbit we found who didn't make it. maybe putting them on our blog helps honor them.

Moon's view . . . We watched. We waited. We worried. We wished. It was very cold for a few days. It seemed to us that the watering can magnified the cold. We moved it out of the wind, wrapped a towel around it at night. For the last two days we've slipped out to the porch...
this is so cool!! and how great that you have a new stitching happening!!
of tea and moons
It started with a couple of scraps at the top of the pile. A square stitched to a rectangle. Digging into the nest of thread, out came a cut-away bit of silk, it was tacked down next to the square. Turning it upside down, the shape of a teapot and spout came into focus . More fo...
i love the front but the back makes my heart sing..
