If we did not allow anyone onto the farm who had been close to chickens then our risk would be low but that is really not practical without vetting everyone who comes to our events. The chickens which have the disease come from a local hatchery, I believe. Our chicks will come from a large hatchery in Iowa. They are the only ones who can supply us with the breed and quantity we need. Once the disease is on the farm it woul be almost impossible to eliminate it. I think vaccination, much as I do not like to do anything to the chickens, is the responsible choice.... Nigel To: eatwellfarm@hotmail.com
