Hello There Lori,
Looks like your holiday decorations are geared towards the festive and delightful theme of COLOR. Love them !!!!!
Merry Christmas
Bird's Nest Christmas Ornaments
I save everything. Bottle caps, wine corks, plastic flowers, beads, paperclips, wire...birds from the dollar store...I never know when I'm going to need this stuff. Pack rat? Yes, but I always have junk when I need it! My grandmother made the nest there in the center and I always loved it....
Hey Lori,
It takes a lot to get my head out of my three Etsy shops these days, but when I found out you had grown a cantaloupe, well.... I had to stop and take a bow. Congratulations.

I Grew A Cantaloupe!
I grew a cantaloupe! I only got one melon off the entire plant, it is about the size of a softball and some critter bore a hole in it about an inch but other than that it is absolutely perfect. Otherwise, the garden is winding down. And since it is fall I seem to have remembered my affinity f...
Add me to the list of incredibly jealous people who realize they would starve if there wasn't a grocery store down the street. We got literally one tomato off our plant and the pesties got all the rest :(
It's That Time Again
The carrots are in! We decided on a rainbow blend this year...but didn't get too many other than orange. We also planted twice as many as last year because we wanted to make more of these insanely addictive pickled carrots. We had some mutant specimens this year too...interesting......
It may have been too sweet, but it sure was gorgeous!
This Is Why I Avoided You At The Grocery Store
Dear fit & healthy co-worker with swiss chard and kasha in your shopping cart, We celebrated my daughter's birthday last weekend so I needed to make her a cake. Only I kind of got a late start on cake-baking and I had five 12 year old girls due to arrive at my house in three hours! And the...
Here I am. Alive and well.
Jingle Birds
I'm starting to feel like a jingle bird because I keep flying down the street to the local antique store where I meet up with an amazing vintage jewelry dealer. My new friend knows everything there is to know about vintage jewelry and has been collecting and selling successfully for 18 years. So...
Thanks for the comment and compliment, of course I think you SHOULD get one for your niece :)
Junk Charm Bracelets
I've been up to my eyeballs in junk jewelry and orders for junk charm bracelets. These things are selling like hotcakes. I sold one at a business dinner, sold one in an antique shop to a fellow customer and sold one to a fellow lodger at a bed and breakfast. The phone rang and I sold four mor...
You would never believe all the sorting tubs, drying racks and little plastic bags full of treasure. I think you may be right.

I'm starting to feel like a jingle bird because I keep flying down the street to the local antique store where I meet up with an amazing vintage jewelry dealer. My new friend knows everything there is to know about vintage jewelry and has been collecting and selling successfully for 18 years. Someday, I may show you pictures of her shop, but today.... I'm just showing a little of what I've been bringing home from her shop. I know, this picture is just not enough, you want to see more, you want to dig down into the tubs and get... Continue reading

The phone rang and I sold four more to a lady who is taking them to Italy and giving them to a true fashion lover from the great fashion capitol of Milan. My Flicker account is getting full of pictures of all the bracelets that are flying out of here.... Continue reading

I'm impressed. I've tried that keeping the lines straight thing and had the same wonky results. Something tells me you have a new obsession on your hands.
Not Worth The Panic
Remember this scene from Castaway? Well that was me this weekend: "LOOK WHAT I HAVE CREATED!" I made a blanket. I don't think I can call this a quilt technically since I didn't bind it. But I did piece it...sort of straight....and I did quilt it and all. I used a 1/4 inch foot which helped b...
Don't know what got into me. I usually stick to the stodgy straight and narrow. Must be kicking up my heels in my old age.
Time Flight
Sometimes the evenings just fly by. Especially when watching one of those rich historical production pieces put out by the BBC or HBO. At the end of the story, I can hardly remember the plot, the actors or the author. I have paid little attention to those kinds of details. For me, they're ju...
Time Flight
Sometimes the evenings just fly by. Especially when watching one of those rich historical production pieces put out by the BBC or HBO. At the end of the story, I can hardly remember the plot, the actors or the author. I have paid little attention to those kinds of details. For me, they're just accessories to the props and scenery. I drool over old houses, furniture, wall colors, drapes, clothes and the jewelry. If I assembled a piece of jewelry out of thrift store finds and antique bits and it looked like something a baroness would wear (which it does)...... Continue reading

I did indeed.
Sisters and Sticky Tape
A couple of weeks ago we made a trip to St. Louis to see our little wee dotes, the grand-kids. By the time we arrive the kids are all excited about the things we plan to do. It used to be easier before we had to allow for gender preferences. Now, we need to plan for "boy stuff" and "girl stuf...
Sisters and Sticky Tape
A couple of weeks ago we made a trip to St. Louis to see our little wee dotes, the grand-kids. By the time we arrive the kids are all excited about the things we plan to do. It used to be easier before we had to allow for gender preferences. Now, we need to plan for "boy stuff" and "girl stuff". So we did the Grossology exhibit at the St. Louis Science Museum (gross) and a kissy face movie called "Gnomeo and Juliet" (also gross according to my grandson). We went pink shopping with my growing up so fast granddaughter... Continue reading

Even the pastry problem can be solved. From what I hear, 4 year olds love to bake and clean and do all kinds of things they will not love to do by 8 years old, so I say you take advantage of the cheap labor while you still can. Nice to hear from you again.
Wartime Bride
From what I hear, the rest of the economy is picking up, getting back to normal, regaining momentum, well, I mean that's what I hear on the news... but not so much from the boots on the ground here in Florida and if you ask the CEO of Borders or the teachers in Wisconsin. Times are tough, so to...
I hung my laundry out for about 5 years in the sixties. I loved the fresh air smell on my crisp sheets. Perhaps I'll ask the hubby to make me a clothesline.
Why My Underwear Will Be Waving In The Breeze
This is my last box of dryer sheets. I have to admit I love fabric softener and dryer sheets. I love the way my towels feel and how they smell fresh out of the dryer. I still love the smell of the laundromat or walking past my neighbor's house when they're doing laundry in their basement. But...
Cherry Blossoms and Green Pollen
My head is pounding. My throat is sore. My eyes are itchy. My ears are plugged up. The green pollen is covering the hood of my car and mold is forming under the wet leaves out front. Spring is here in the south. I may be allergic and pretty miserable, but I sure can't complain about the beauty emerging all around me. I was in Macon, Georgia last weekend and this is what cherry blossoms is full flower look like. AMAZING, even when seen from the backside of a kleenex. The owners of this farm had the whole yard planted... Continue reading

I remember thinking U2 was weird when my kids listened to it on the radio, now I have grandkids who love all kinds of loud music. I love silence and classical piano. I used to like Janis Joplin, so you see how tastes evolve. Bieber is a phase, just a phase.
Canvas Schmanvas
My girl needs nothing more than a cardboard box and a sharpie to profess her love for Justin Bieber. This is slightly disturbing because until yesterday she thought he was repulsive. I don't know how one can go from repulsive to dream-boat status in the course of 12 hours but...it has happen...
Luck for Lori, wish, wish.
Seriously?
Snow. Not what I had planned.
I think those jars are just screaming for cute tags.
Food In Jars
I like the idea of food in jars. And I especially like the idea of parfait food in jars. Don't ask me why. Have you seen this? I don't know how I feel about it yet. For those of you who don't like the different foods on your plate to touch each other, this might send you over the edge... A...
The way the price of coffee is spiraling upwards, I'll soon have to decide between greeting cards and a cup of coffee, I think we know what wins in that tug of war.

From what I hear, the rest of the economy is picking up, getting back to normal, regaining momentum, well, I mean that's what I hear on the news... but not so much from the boots on the ground here in Florida and if you ask the CEO of Borders or the teachers in Wisconsin. Times are tough, so tough women need to take up arms and handle them. We need more modern women like the wartime brides. These women, in their aprons, knew how to make a cake without sugar and a delicious casserole out of margarine, ketchup and crackers.... Continue reading

Love Surrounding
It's easy to get burdened down with the circumstances of our lives, easy to flutter furiously through task after task in a work a day world and forget that love surrounds and sustains us. That's God's love I'm talking about. Love that never fails. Love that's invested in the details of our simpl...
