Whoa... I had no idea other people had those weird-physical-thingies..
I use that term because I have no idea what they are. And it's not quite an out of body experience, but it's more like you come to realize that you're a human and you have a body and you're controlling it. Like what if we were robots? We wouldn't even know.
I seem real enough...
Aubrey Plaza is my comedic muse.
I watched Funny People with my aunt and cousin a couple months ago. The movie was lame, but I discovered Aubrey Plaza. I secretly thought that I was quite similar to Miss Plaza. When my aunt said that she thought I was just like Aubrey my heart burst open with pure joy! Yes! My personal favorite...
We should go back to pen and paper.
Would you be my pen pal when you go to NY?
Is technology making us better or worse at communicating with each other? How so?
Technology is making it harder for people to communicate. People rely way too much on technology when they should be developing the skills they need to carry on an intelligent conversation. Texting is the death of any new relationship! TypePad Conversations » Answer this question!

Week 16: Final Blog Post
I'm so happy I did 23ThingsKansas. It has really taught me quite a bit. I thought I was tech-savvy before... nuh-uh but everybody better watch out now! I have so many projects I want to do, using some of the things I learned - it's probably a good thing we're ending on week sixteen rather than twenty-three .. I can let all this information sink in and encourage people to use it when handy. And if there happens to be a 23Things in the future.. I'M IN. So I shall be at the webinar at 7:00pm tonight. It will go... Continue reading

Week 15: Wikis
Activity #1 - I couldn't change a wiki... I would feel too nervous changing someone else's information. So I visited a few other wikis and created my own account with both PBworks and Wetpaint. I find PBworks easier to follow, and I do like the fact that there are no ads on your page. It isn't as glamorous as Wetpaint. One cool wiki I went to was Loudoun County Public Library's Wiki. Our library is in the process of putting together a community website. I thought it was clever that the Loudoun Library put together a wiki to get out... Continue reading

Week 14: Library Thing, Etc.
B) Turns out, I learned about Goodreads at the KLA Conference in Wichita. So as soon as I got back from that I checked out the site and thought it was pretty cool. But then..... A) I created an account at Shelfari for this weeks lesson (http://www.shelfari.com/egalvi). I am in looove with it. I like searching for books I've read in like 6th grade and reminiscing over what the cover looked like. :P It's easier to understand I think, user-friendly. I didn't create an account at LibraryThing, but I did play around on the site. The Zeitgeist is very helpful.... Continue reading

Week 13: Slide Sharing
My sister is about the coolest person I know. So I made my slideshow about us and some really good times we had. I used www.slide.com, which was amazingly easy. Here's the link to my slideshow: Ode to My Sister ~*Erryn*~ Continue reading

Week 12: Screencasting
Screencasting is where you can record what you do on your computer screen and put audio with it, then make it into a video so everyone can see. Pretty neat. Never made one before, but I've seen them. Tutorial videos. Anyway, that was the homework for this week. Make a screencast! Here's what I did: Placing A Hold Beware! It's 14 minutes and 26 seconds long. I'll tell you why. We don't have any microphones. So I had no audio. And I needed to explain what I was doing, so I just typed it all out. :-/ Oh dear. The... Continue reading

Week Ten: Video on the Web
As you may have guessed, I think people should enjoy a little immaturity here and there. My secret pleasure would have to be those goofy videos on youtube or goofy websites. They just look like somebody would've had a fun time doing them. Anyway, this week my assignment is to find and post a youtube video. And if possible, make my own and upload it. Oh gosh, now there's a sight... :-/ This is a really neat video about technology, etc. Came out in Fall 09'. I didn't see an official new one yet. ~*Erryn*~ Continue reading

Week Eight Revisited...
Yay! I was invited to participate in creating a Google Doc that listed our choices for best movies of all time. I got a little carried away. I'm really into movies and so I couldn't leave one good one behind. Here's some of my selections as a little preview: Breakfast at Tiffany's Crash Dances with Wolves Road to Perdition The Way We Were ~*Erryn*~ Continue reading

Week Nine: Instant Messaging
First, I logged in at meebo.com, the IM provider we are using this lesson, under every single username I could think of (yahoo, facebook, and google talk) to see if any of my friends were on. Then I realized I was supposed to become friends with people. So I went to a chat room. I didn't stay in there long.... I think they were all teenagers and the topic of the day was Fanta. I would've gotten involved in the chat (mentioning that I can not eat Chipotle without getting an orange Fanta), however, a few choice words came up... Continue reading

Week Eight: Cloud Computing
So I spent all week trying to figure out what I was supposed to do for week eight's lesson.... I still don't get it. I'll have to go back over it during some free time and try again. It was a group project, so I was hoping that maybe someone would invite me to be a part of their group and just tell me what to do. That didn't work out as planned. Either nobody gets week eight or everybody already did it. :/ Oh dear. Wish me luck. Continue reading

Week Seven: Microblogging
This week the lesson is on microblogging... which basically translates to... Twitter. I had a Twitter too.. way back when. It is eAlvi and the last time I tweeted was 6 months ago. Since Facebook sort of has a microblogging part on it and because I'm friends with more people on Facebook, I just found no use with Twitter. I do, however, like the fact that you can text messages on your phone to Twitter and receive Twitter updates from selected Twitter buddies back to your phone (I think you can do that with Facebook too, but I never figured... Week Six: Tagging & Social Bookmarking
Lesson for this week: Learn about "bookmarking" websites using Delicious. I thought Delicious was very easy to use. I opened it up with my old Yahoo email account and to find some interesting sites to bookmark I went to StumbleUpon. We use Delicious at our library (unfortunately I forgot the username and password)... but it should be just about amazing because you can tag all the sites help desks might need. For example, currently I'm sending a whole lot of people to the Kansas Dept. of Revenue site because of taxes. To save time, I could just bookmark it on... Continue reading

Week Three: Online Meetings
The webinar I went to for the third assignment was called "Communication Skills for Front Line Library Staff" by Pat Wagnar. It was on OPAL (which worked without downloading anything or asking for a password). I felt the webinar was helpful; it kind of reinforced a class that I took on WebJunction, but this summed everything up in 40 minutes. It was basically about how to interact with your patrons at the circulation or help desk, especially if there is a problem. The best quote: "Pretend that person is signing your paycheck"... referring to the patron. I think webinars are... Continue reading
