My 2.5 y/o is definitely still obsessed with Frozen. Frozen and Hello Kitty are pretty much all she would need to survive. Her favorite thing is to correct me all the time. "It's swim day at daycare; let's pack your backpack!" "No, it's not! I don't WANT to take my backpack!" "I'm hungry; let's eat breakfast." "No. You're not." She also loves to be read to and if I'm doing something else and can't read to her, she will read to herself. On the 30 minute drive to her grandma's on Sunday, she read the manual for the Sync feature in my car. It was apparently riveting, because she didn't utter a peep the whole drive.
I've also tried to subscribe, but it won't send me the confirmation email (I double-checked that the address is correct).
Pinned for an extra entry!
What was the best gift you've ever received and who was it from? I got married young, and the best gift I received for that was my aunt paying for my wedding dress.
1. Have you ever testified in court? For what? Nope! The closest I've come to testifying in court was having jury duty on the most boring case known to man. 2. Do you still have your wedding dress? I do. It's in a preservation box in the attic. 3. Is there a special place you like to go when you're happy, sad, stressed, etc.? Sad or stressed? Bed. I guess I kinda like to run from those feelings. But if I'm happy, I like to be with Andy or my other friends. 4. If you have kids, do they sleep with you? If you don't have kids...will you let your kids sleep with you when/if you have them? No kids yet, but we don't let our animals sleep with us and we don't plan to let our future kids sleep with us. I guess we'll see how that actually plays out. 5. Do you watch late night TV? Sometimes I watch Conan, but that's just 10 PM.

Two summers ago, Andy and I went to North Carolina for vacation. As a present for one of his beer connoisseur friends, Andy decided to buy a growler from a local bar that brewed their own beer. (That's a pretty expensive souvenir, I think, but whatevs.) Anyway, their equipment that would have sealed the growler properly was broken, so that beer was basically only good for a couple of days. We bought it the night before we left for home. Andy bought the beer a cooler and packed it in ice for the drive. We made it to Indianapolis that first night and the growler spent the night in the fridge. Then it got packed in brand new ice and we headed the rest of the way home. You should have seen how fast Andy was driving/letting me drive! (He hates speeding, since he got two tickets in three months once.) We delivered that growler and Andy's friend basically had... a matter of hours before the beer would start to turn. And we had the most stressful drive home ever, all thanks to a jug of beer.

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of? I feel like a child, but most Disney movies. Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin. I also love The Family Stone and Pieces of April. 2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now? Cops who pull you over for "running" a stop sign and give you a ticket, even though you have a clean driving record and haven't even been pulled over before. 3. If you had to describe your best friend in 5 words or less, what would you say? I'm worried about her weight. 4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living? I would work in an animal rescue. 5. What is your one "splurge item" that you will buy no matter the cost? My Aveda shampoo. My hair and scalp are too picky for me to say otherwise. There are also a few foods that I won't accept the generic of, though, like peanut butter (Jif or nothing, thanks).
Since we're not fb friends, can I get you to DM it to me on twitter? I love weddings so much! I appreciate all this planning stuff, now that mine is 6 years behind me!

That sounds like an awesome day to me, especially this time of year when everyone is always so busy. I think your coworker is the weird one :-)

Last summer, Andy and I drove out to North Carolina for our vacation; Ziggy even came with us. We left on Friday after work to get a jump on the trip, and we had booked a room at a Knights Inn in Dayton, OH. We knew we would be getting there late and would just basically be sleeping for a few hours and then hitting the road early on Saturday morning. The price was *low* and they allowed pets, so it seemed like it would be good. Oh, man. I will never stay at another Knights Inn. The carpet was dewey feeling. The bathroom was just gross. There was a water stain that looked like it was actually coming from the room next door. I think I've actually blocked out a lot of the gross details, because it was just awful. Let me put it this way: Ziggy would not sit or lay down on the carpet. She did not settle in that room until I popped up her travel kennel and she could lay down on her bed in there. We slept for probably 4 hours, passed on the free continental breakfast, stopped at a Panera, and got the heck out of Dayton.

My family in Illinois is small, only my mom and my brother. Andy has *a lot* of family on his dad's side, plus his parents are divorced, so that complicates holidays. My mom and brother just always come to family dinners with the Vosses; that way the four of us aren't trying to recreate huge holiday meals for just a few people. Christmas is actually pretty easy. The Vosses celebrate on Christmas Eve. Then Andy and I exchange gifts by ourselves on Christmas morning. My mom and brother might come over for a while. Then Andy and I usually get Chinese food and go see a movie, haha. Then the weekend after Christmas, Andy and I, along with his siblings, all go out to Andy's mom's house. Thanksgiving is trickier, and usually involves at least two dinners and a huge nap is required.

I am beyond jealous of your meet-up this past weekend. I was co-hosting a bachelorette party, so there was no way that I could have come, but that doesn't make the shade of green I'm sporting any less vibrant. I hope there's another one soon!

1. What's your favorite Halloween candy? Mini Hershey's Special Dark bars. I could eat dark chocolate all day, so the mini ones keep that in check a bit. 2. Do you fold your socks? I used to, but I don't anymore. I pretty much only wear socks to the gym, so I generally don't care if they match exactly. So I'll end up with two Nike socks, one with a light grey swoosh and the other with a dark grey swoosh. Or two Adidas socks with different shades of pink on the stripes. Not a big deal. 3. What is something you wished you had been warned about? I wish someone had wanred me about how hard it is to be a non-traditional student. This is tough! 4. What is the most significant different between you and your significant other? The biggest difference between Andy and me is our emotions, too. Everything just rolls off of his back! How does he do that?! 5. What are three words you'd use to describe yourself? Right now, hungry, tired, and annoyed. In general, though, I think I'm more pleasant :-) Caring, creative, pensive PS - I'm so jealous of the DoCo meet-up! I hope you all have a freaking blast!

1. What's the first nightmare you remember? It's in black & white and it has to do with vampires. I remember I started having it after my dad let me watch some old vampire movie when I was young, probably 4? 2. Even if you're not a sports fan, what is your favorite sport to play/watch? I enjoy playing soccer. The sport that I probably watch the most of is NFL; I married into a family of Bears fans. 3. If you could pull off one piece of trendy fashion, what would it be? Skinny jeans. Even when I was a stick back in high school and running 3-7 miles a day for cross country, I still had big thighs. So I don't think skinny jeans are ever going to be in the cards for me. 4. Did you make good grades in school? Yep. I finished 8th in my HS class; I was tied for first until trig got the best of me junior year. Still rocking out some nice grades in college, too, so that's good! 5. Do you subscribe to any magazines? Not anymore. I just occassionally buy the ones that have a cover story I'm interested in. I don't have enough time to read magazines on the regular.

Standing next to the Arch and looking up... It makes you so dizzy! I had a hard time trying to take a picture when I was there. And you're right, it IS big. Much, much bigger up close than it looks from the highway.
1. Have you ever visited another country? Not yet! But there are several on the list! Hopefully soon (relatively)... 2. What is the strangest place you've ever been? OK, so I was born in rural Texas (Huntsville) and lived in Bedias, TX until I was about 5.5. The summer before my freshman year of high school, we went to a family reunion in TX and drove through Bedias and visited the house that we had lived in. That was weird. 3. What is your favorite season? Summer also! I looooooove the heat! However, I want to get OUT of Illinois where the humidity is always so high that I have to swim through the summer air. 4. What one song will always cheer you up? Off the top of my head? Telephone by Lady Gaga f/Beyonce. Guaranteed to make me start dancing around in my seat. 5. What Disney character do you resemble most? Another Belle here. She's the one who (I think) looks the most like me, plus I love to read, too!

1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper? I am an unfortunately messy sleeper. So's the husband. Those facts combined with the fact that I never really learned the "right" way to make a bed explain why the bed's only made when company's coming over and getting a tour of the house. Otherwise, the bed is constantly a disaster area. 2. Fill in the blank: I wish I was more________. Decisive. Even little things (what to have for dinner, etc.)... those are such pains in the butt to decide. I hate it. I wish I didn't. 3. What is something you wish you had been warned about? How much work it is to own a house. No one tells you this before you sign that giant stack of paperwork!! 4. What is the best thing you found at a garage sale/flea market? When we were out in LA in June, Andy and I went to this giant flea market thing. They had EVERYTHING there. Everything. I didn't buy anything, but I loved seeing the giant bins of men's socks right next to huge displays of cleaning supplies right next to a vendor selling avocados 10 for $1. 5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be? Honestly, right now all I can think is that I wish I had gotten the oatmeal at Starbucks this morning instead of this stupid muffin. Ugh. Breakfast fail.

There are issues with the iPhone4's reception, depending on how you hold the phone. It's worse for left-handed people. Supposedly, you can fix it by putting a piece of duct tape on your new fancy phone. AKA, that's ridiculous.

1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? Do you still have it? I had so many stuffed animals that I'm not sure that there was just one favorite. I would carefully arrange them on the top bunk of my bunk bed. Now that I really think about it, though, I think I brought my stuffed sheep with me when I moved out of my parents' house, so I think that would make him the favorite. He's in my attic right now; don't want the cat or dog messin' him up! 2. Do you dream in color? I think so, mostly because I have occassionally noted that my dream was in B&W and that seemed weird. 3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were taller or shorter? I'm 5'8" which was tough with my first couple of boyfriends. Andy's 6' (give or take), though, so as long as I don't wear ridiculous shoes, we're still good! 4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice on your GPS, who would it be? My friend downloaded Snoop Dogg for his TomTom GPS. I have a Garmin, though, so it's not available to me. And I am JEALOUS. 5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it? Always!

1. What is the one food you could eat everyday? Honestly? Tacos. I love Mexican food and tacos have a little bit of everything in one delicious hand-held package. 2. Are you working in the career you thought you were going to when you were 18? Nope, I thought I was going to be a civil engineer, but after 3 semesters and major unravelings in my family life, I changed my mind and ended up in insurance. 3. What is something you wish you had done when you were younger but didn't? Kept my room clean. It would have made it much easier when I had to move out. (How depressing sounding, but true.) 4. What color are your kitchen walls? The same tan that the rest of the downstairs was when we bought the house. We have major plans for the kitchen and I'm not doing jack in there until I can gut it and start over. 5. Do you remember what your very first favorite song was? Some country song, I'm sure. I remember sitting in the dining room of our house in Texas, playing some tape over and over. Don't remember what was on it, though.

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument? Several, but mostly the viola, the French horn, and the trumpet. I don't have a French horn in my possession anymore, though. 2. What is your driving pet-peeve? Slow people in the left lane. But more specifically, I hate it when there's someone in the left lane going exactly the same speed as the person in the right lane. Someone! Get out of my way! 3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services? Housekeeper, housekeeper, housekeeper. I hate cleaning and really only "need" spa type treatment occasionally. I agree that coming home to a clean house would feel like a day at the spa! 4. Is there a song that you hear and it takes you back to a moment? Wonderful Tonight... Our first dance at our wedding reception! 5. What song best represents your life right now? Homecoming by Kanye West, since I just got home from vacation yesterday. PS - @Marty, I saw a comment you left on the post about Blue on the Peoria Bar Blog and it kind of blew my mind. The internet is such a small place, haha.

1. What is your favorite thing about summertime? Walking to Theo's (one of the summer ice cream places) with Ziggy and getting her a pup cup. She loves it! 2. What is your ideal retirement location (if money didn't matter)? Easy one. Lake Travis, Austin, TX 3. Do you live in the same town you grew up in? Yes and no. I was born in TX and lived there until I was 6. Then we moved up to IL. Now I live not only in the same city, but the same zip code as the house I lived in from 6 - 18. 4. What nervous habit did you have as a child that you kicked to the curb before becoming an adult? I used to chew my fingernails all the time. I quit that when I was about 20. I don't feel like I was really grown up then, so I'm counting it. 5. What is the most embarassing thing that happened to you while on the job? When I was hostessing at Joe's Crab Shack and helped out one of the bussers clean off a table. On my way across the restaurant to drop off the dirty dishes, I dropped a plate and it broke. The restaurant turned silent, everyone turned to look at me, and I turned BRIGHT RED.

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship? I share the following with my closest friends and it seems to be working pretty well so far: respect, humor, compassion, ears for listening, shoulders for leaning, and life experiences (shared or retold) 2. What is the last thing you bought, and regretted? Food at TGI Fridays during the last FND. It wasn't very good. 3. Have you ever had a prank played on you? Going way back, when I was in HS and working at the movie theatre, one day my mom called me at work and asked why I had ordered like 5 pizzas to be delivered to the house. Uhm, I hadn't. And I still don't know who did. 4. What if your favorite theme park? I've only ever been to Six Flags, so I guess that one? Still trying to get the hubs to agree to go to Disneyland while we're in Cali in a week! 5. Have you ever seen anyone else give birth? Not in real life, but we watched a video of it in biology class.
