Hey! Happy New Year!
2016 took off at a run. There are a lot of changes and developments happening, one of which is me closing this blog down as separate site and transitioning it to be part of elizaveta.com, as it should have been for a while. You must be asking: what happened, Elly? Did you go to Japan? Did you have a birthday? Did you have a good Christmas? Well, kind of yes to all of those and more. I have also moved. At the moment I am strictly nomadic, without a permanent address. Right now I am in Los Angeles. Prior to... Continue reading

Dragon Age world, hello again!
I sang on another batch of songs for Dragon Age, this time for a release called Dragon Age - Trespasser. Here is one of these songs, it's completely acoustic and full of all sorts of details about the world itself. Continue reading

New Life, here I come
Sometimes new beginnings hide themselves in endings and vice versa. I am going through something big, and I can feel it in my heart, my stomach, my toes, as well as my fingertips. It's true that wherever you go, there you are. But sometimes you can leap and leave yourself behind for a split second. I am not even sure what I mean here. But I will be performing a concert in a couple of weeks. And I will sing the new me. After that I'll be going to Japan. Continue reading

NASA
So as some of you know, I am a little bit obsessed with two things: flowers. And space. That's besides Japan, music and coffee. And flan. So, at some point in the recent weeks, we pored over some NASA footage and thought it would be perfect for my song 'Space Pirate's Love Song'. Also, I just got word that this video was screened for the NASA team who are involved in the Juno Mission. How cool is that?? Incidentally, this song has now been recorded in Japanese and is part of my Japanese language EP, to be released soon. This... Continue reading

Heroes!
My song Hero's version by Pegboard Nerds is being used for a very cool promo - it's a reboot of an older TV show about superheroes, who are regular kids - well, sometimes. It's called 'Heroes Reborn'. This clip is so fun, it energizes me and makes me feel like I could be a superhero, too. Hmm. Food for thought. Related articles Heroes Reborn Starts This Friday! Icarus
I have met so many incredible, creative and talented people over the past couple of years. One of these is Christina Yee, who I had the honor of meeting last year at a very special curated event called Hatch. Christina is a filmmaker, a passionate, warm and lovely human being. I fell in love with the short animated film she screened at the event. The film was 'Miss Todd', and it had won a slew of awards, including a student Academy Award. The movie was inspired by a real person - specifically, Lilian Todd - the first woman who designed... Continue reading

Trap (music video)
Here is a new music video, shot and directed by my art director and partner in crime Missy Washingon, aka i102fly. It also features a good friend, an amazing guitar maker and artisan James Trussart, looking and acting mysterious. See if you can recognize a few of the symbols in this video and what they mean. This is arguably the darkest song/video of mine to date. In the next entry I'll disclose what this song means to me (hint: it's not about love - or at least, not about romantic love). This song was also featured in a major Russian... Continue reading

My new album is out
I won't lie, last few weeks have been tough. I have been dealing with family matters as well as some pretty wrenching self doubt. But the show must go on, and this is an album I am proud to set free into the big world out there. There are a few videos to follow, as soon as a few days from now. And for now, the album has been released on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/messenger/id996073887 I hope I can keep going and do some great things - but I also hope the music may just speak for itself. I am in Moscow,... Continue reading

Trap (lyrics)
Trap If you could only see I couldn’t love you more If you belong to me I’ll hold you I’ll keep you But I get so hypnotized I’m lost I’m paralyzed I want to hear your lies You choke me You bleed me I want to die When I feel you inside my mind Hearts weren’t meant to last Breathing the broken glass Tell me it’s going to pass You’ll need me You’ll heal me I want to die When I feel you inside my mind If I loved you more than life Wouldn’t matter if you died I’ll follow... Here we go (almost)
I know, it's so like me - to post a cliffhanger and then leave this blog empty and echoing. But I was busy! (excuses, excuses). And so here are some dates and goodies: As you can see above, this is the cover for my upcoming album 'Messenger'. The single 'Trap' will go live on iTunes worldwide June 1st, and the entire album will be available for pre-order. Oh yes, and a really awesome remix of 'Trap' will be available, too. The full album will go live June 29, 2015. Track list has been updated, and here it is: 1. Trap... Continue reading

My album is done!!!!!
And here's a late night poem. I'll write more later with all the details. A time to write, my cup is full, I hug the night, I call its bluff - you cannot hide, my other half, I hear you call; I've set my sail. From dusk till dawn where lovers live where stardust gathers at the crack between what's lost and what we give I'll find you there - I'll bring you back A time to write, the moon is high it sings and whispers me to sleep I'm dreaming as I slip away while streetlights sway and shadows... More dragon love:)
I've had a busy few weeks. The album is almost ready, it's being mixed, actually. Mixing is always so emotional and drives me crazy. All the weaknesses of the tracks become obvious, and sometimes you know exactly what needs to be done, while other times you are lost and are searching for the words in the dark, which must seriously frustrate my mixing engineer. As I may have mentioned earlier, I sang a bunch of songs for Dragon Age Inqusition, which is a pretty cool role-playing video game. The songs were not part of the official soundtrack, but the fans... Happy New Year!
So my birthday came and went, and now it's already the 4th day of 2015. Is it just me or time has sped up once again? I guess it's more important than ever to be mindful and present otherwise the time will just pass you by and one day you'll wake up, thinking: 'What is this? How did I get here? This is not the right place-person-house-country-job... what??' That said, I have great hopes for 2015, but it all depends on me. Can I steer my ship proudly out of harbors into the open ocean? Can I navigate my way... Continue reading

Onwards
I got a little burned out and spent the last day and a half basically being a vegetable and watching a lot of Japanese animation. Yeah, I am a geek, what can I say. When I have time, I'll take good anime over pretty much any TV or film stuff. It's probably no surprise then, that my new version of Dreamer I just recorded in Japanese (live video to follow shortly) sounds like something from the opening credits of an anime. I need to get back to work tomorrow and give it one big final push until Christmas and my... Continue reading

perfect storms
I am writing this, while I am laying in bed. Southern California has been finally blessed by the weather gods and we got another storm, courtesy of Hawaii. The Pineapple Express is drenching the city and the L.A. river, for once, looks like a river. I am happy for the plants and the hills. This was a long and pretty intense week, as I was also fighting off a cold. We shot and recorded a bunch more live videos, some of which will go up shortly. Christmas songs, yea. And others. I recorded some songs on Dragon Age Inquisition (video... Continue reading

Spy Satellites
So, as a little heads up, I will be launching a brand new music side project soon. It's called Spy Satellites and it will be All Electro All The Time. What that means is that this will be my electronic music project. I am excited about it because it has a significantly different sound. We already have the first single in place, it's getting mixed, and we're looking to make a video for it very soon, too. This morning I am rather grumpy because I dropped my iPhone into a cup of tea as I randomly woke up in the... Continue reading

Moscow, sunny, hopeful
Last night's show in Moscow was very special. First and foremost, this was a great show for both myself and the guys. Secondly, this is my home turf - I grew up here. To perform in front of a few thousand people and win them over is something every artist dreams about, I suppose. This was a proper way to finish off this year, so to speak. Now it's back to recording and focusing on music and planning for next year. My birthday is coming up, too. Continue reading

back to Moscow III
The show in St. Petersburg was wonderful and terrifying. Wonderful because, well, any opportunity to perform my songs in front of many, many people is wonderful. Terrifying because I was having tech issues 2 minutes prior to my set, and then others IN my set. Fortunately they stopped. But having your microphone misfire in front of 8,000+ people is not something I care to do a lot unless I want to have an early stroke. Anyway. I am in Moscow now and it snowed a bit yesterday. Nothing to write home about, though. I was also fighting off an ear... Continue reading

sleeping on night trains
I am sitting half dressed in the hotel room and about to get ready and go to perform. I am in St. Petersburg. It is such a beautiful city, I wish I had a bit more time to go out and walk around. This city is very moody, though, even more than Moscow - right now the skies are gray, overcast and look like lead, hanging over the streets, really close to the ground. Anyway, usually I would still go out, armed with an espresso and brave the weather. But I am fighting off a bit of a virus of... Continue reading

Hello, Moscow!
Here I am in my old city again. What is happening in my life, you may ask? Well, lots and lots. First and foremost, I am working on an acoustic EP, called Fairytales and Satellites, to be out by summer's end. It's all just piano and voice... ok voices, and some beautiful strings here and there. The titles are: Icarus Familiar Satellite Fairy Tale for Girls Bella Anima I am very excited about it because unlike HERO, this EP very will be very pure and acoustic. I get so ambitious when I record or arrange these days. Fairy Tales and... Continue reading
