Big Weather
I grew up in Western Michigan. I spent a great deal of my youth on the shores of Lake Michigan, taking measure of each season with the activities I enjoyed there. In the winter, we always went to The Lake... Continue reading

Update: Since I started C25K in March, I've shed 22 pounds and 4 inches from my waist. Perhaps best news of all, I went to the doc today for a checkup, and I no longer need to take meds to lower my blood pressure.
I cannot believe that it all started with those 30 second runs that left me winded - now I run three 5 mile jaunts a week. Thanks so much for this program! At 44, I feel like an entirely new dude.
My New Gym
Having my body in better shape would make me feel even more grateful for all the good things that are happening in my life right now. So this week I started to do the Couch to 5K program. With my iPod, runners, and Pacific Ocean at hand, I hit the beach. For motivation, I kept telling myself...
Thanks Sckraps!
I am about to begin work on a new series of twelve 3-color prints for a show in August. I have to perfect printing them on my etching press. Ill be posting here on my progress. Keep toying with relief prints - youll be doing multi-color in no time.

A New Direction - Color Linoleum Block Printing
This last weekend, I spent Saturday and Sunday at the San Francisco Center for the Book, taking another one of their exceptional classes. Over the years, I have learned how to do letterpress and book-binding at their awesome facility on 16th Street. When I saw that Rik Olson was teaching a...

I Have Not Given Up On Blogs
Today it seems routine to go to the computer and get snippets of people's lives. But don't you think a blog paints with a broader and bolder stroke, with words for more expression, depth, and insight than a status update... Continue reading

Davey, just go to iTunes, go to the store, get into the Podcast section, and search for Couch to 5k. You will find it there for free.
Glad to hear you started, too, mg. Small world!
Week 2 began today. Six 90 second runs with a 2 minute rest between. Still very easy, and enjoyable. Instead of stones, when I see an intact sand dollar, I pick that up, and pretend it is my payment for the run.

California Maid Cigar Box
I found a treasure. On Saturday, we traveled across the Bay to attend the Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire, which is held the first Sunday of every month on the old Navy base. The faire is row after row of nostalgia. I went there looking for an old surf board to hang as a wall ...
