I called up the office of equal opportunity at CSU and they basically said they want to cut down the number of applicants they see (at least that's generally the case) and if they miss qualified people, well, there are always more fish in the sea.
Personally I think the MLA should issue a statement (isn't Berúbé on the right side of this?)
What's the academese for "no fatties"? Why do I need to know? No reason, no reason.
[My response to the Inside Higher Ed article can be found here.] It has come to my attention that I’m now too old and too experienced to be hired to do my job. Consider the “Required Qualifications” of this listing for a position at Colorado State University: Ph.D. in English or American Studi...
Annoyed that my name somehow appears as ergodicity. Meh.

Right Ho, Jeeves (P.G. Wodehouse): Gussie’s prize-giving at Market Snodbury is as perfect as everyone said it would be, but – this is one of the worst confessions I’ve ever had to make – by the time I got around to it, after all those weeks of not finding time to read and all those months of read...

Good to hear you've discovered the joys of Bertie Wooster. Do check out the Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry version -- it's quite enjoyable but in a different way.
Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit (P.G. Wodehouse, 1954).
My first Wodehouse but (I vow) not my last. The prose is perfect. To the extent that the claim is reasonable at all, I mean it literally: there are no errors, misjudgments, or failures of craft to speak of in 231 pages of writing. Nor even a momentary lapse or break in the extraordinary narrativ...
Wow, what an amazingly douchey thing for someone to do to you.
Important Facts about Scott Eric Kaufman
(If you ventured here from that odious place, you may want to read this before you leave a comment I'll delete.) Because I have someone—likely a former student using a pseudonym or a random troll—by the name of "Eric Oden" signing me for mailing lists (Military.com and American Intercontinental ...
