When I started reading this post, I gasped when I saw the picture of the dreads on the ground. You are beautiful either way and your soul is even more gorgeous. Mine are almost at 8 years now and I have thought every now and then what it would be like to be without them, but that thought scares me so I know they're here to stay for a while. They've been a source of healing for me.
the letting go and the lightness
i'm back from bali, completely refreshed and inspired...and the big news around here is that i bid farewell to nine years of dreadlocked hair ! (me in australia a year ago...those dreads were l o n g !) my wish to let go of my dreads has been brewing for the past year now - something in me ne...
Mick sounds like my David and kids. I'll be the one standing far from the edge while they tempt fate.
My favorite part of a snow storm is while it's happening. I feel so warm and cozy inside while the snow is coming down.
snowstormy
andddd...in a complete contrast to all the green and bare feet pictures i've been posting of bali, here is a winter wonderland in my backyard! we had a lottttt of snow over the past few days - over 18 inches in fact! this made for some very exciting times around here watching the howling win...
Where did that little girl called Yindi go? She's getting so big!!!
spurts of creative
making things makes me happy. i've always been that way. my friends and i would make pretend magazines and fashion for our dolls when i was young. crafty play-dates were the ones i sought out. and if you grew up watching 'playschool' - you won't be surprised to know my mum set up a 'useful box'...
She's a girl after my own heart. I love it!
teeny weeny bedroom
we've done another room shuffle-swap to accommodate a certain someone who prefers her own quiet space these days away from smaller siblings (as the eldest of four, i get it). this wee room at the top of the stairs previously held her little brothers toddler bed and a set of drawers - no...
29 Gifts - Day 6 - Today I give with joy
My meditation today started with, "Today I give with joy." I wanted to do something that would not only make the recipients bursting with happiness, but myself as well. My daughter and I started off the day with going for a walk up a small local mountain. Actually, we started... Continue reading

29 Gifts - Day 5 - Today I give with peace
I started my day with the meditation, "Today I give with peace." I didn't know what my gift would be for the day, but I remained open to the opportunity to present itself when the time came. Before an opportunity even came up, I had already been the recipient of... Continue reading

29 Gifts - Day 4 - Today I give with forgiveness
Before Day 4 started, I knew what I wanted to give, but I wanted to meditate and pray over it before I gave my gift. In Day 2 and Day 3, I wrote about the envelope of posters and clippings that my grandfather had given back to me. Through the... Continue reading

29 Gifts - Day 3 - Today I give to let go
In yesterday's post, I talked about the envelope of basketball posters and clippings that my grandparents kept for me for 22 years. My grandfather found them the other day and gave them back to me when I visited him yesterday. This morning, my meditation was, "Today I give to let... Continue reading

29 Gifts - Day 2 - Today I give with intention
I woke up with the thought that I wanted to do something intentional as my gift today. My meditation became, "Today I give with intention." I knew what I was going to do as soon as that meditation crossed my heart and mind. It was all about the smiles for... Continue reading

29 Gifts - Day 1 of the challenge
I just finished reading Cami's book, "29 Gifts - How a Month of Giving can Change Your Life," on Monday afternoon and passed it on to a friend that I felt might find some inspiration in it. I wanted to wait until I had finished the book before I started... Continue reading

Not long after David and I took a pregnancy test and found out that we were expecting Zach, I started a few letters to our future little one. I thought it was appropriate to start out the new book, Zach: Uncensored, (<--- click) with some of those letters. It only... Continue reading

We have three husky mixes that we adopted since we moved into the new house.
The Search Almost Over for the Alternative Pet
Ann returned from her Stampin' Up! Cruise to Alaska last night. One of my friends picked me up from the Doggy Spa so I could greet her when she came home. We worked on a blog post only to have her shut the laptop off before posting it! She finally found an alternative pet that I can relate ...
Thanks, Monica! Ill definitely pick your brain one of these days. I so appreciate your encouragement. :)

First "official" bariatrics program appointment
My appointment at the Bariatrics center on Monday was very different from the last time I went for my psych evaluation. I was surprised when I came home from Florida and got the phone call to set up my appointment to meet with the surgeon so I assumed I must have passed the psych eval. I went to...
Erin - Im definitely leaving that open as one of my options. :)

You know, Anna, I think you might be on to something there. Eating privately ISNT an option when Im traveling. Also, when Im staying in a hotel or at someones house, I dont have the access to unlimited food like I would when Im at home.
Right now, I dont have access to a support group except for my friends, and while they are very supportive, most of them have never dealt with anything like BED so its not quite the same as talking and venting with people that completely understand what Im going through. The bariatrics center has a support group, though. Im going to see about going to that.
I have a real issue with food journals. I become very obsessive about them and thats where I hit a wall 2 years ago when I started to lose weight very quickly. We dont play well
together.
My scale had a nice surprise
I got on the scale the night I got home from Florida. I was surprised by what I saw, so I decided to check again the next morning to double check what I was seeing. When I woke up, I got back on the scale and sure enough, I'd lost 6 pounds the week that I was away. I ate a LOT of salads and did ...

Florida road trip - part two

Heading out to pick up my girl-child tomorrow
My girl-child is in the front row, middle one sitting on the chairs. That's her mission trip team right before they headed out on the road to their project in Indiana at the beginning of July. It's hard to believe that I'm leaving again tomorrow to make the trip back... Continue reading
