She's going to love the DX machine Carla! Have you tried unzipping it with WinZip or similar program/app? ScanNCut files are .FCM so once they are unzipped you will need to use CanvasWorkspace to see them.

You can make an account on ScanNCut Canvasworkspace even if you don't have a machine...try it out and see if you like it!

Yes it works fine with clothing patterns as long as they fit on the mat. (There are 12"×24" mats too.) The blades are awesome for fabric! You can use the ScanNCut with Brother embroidery, but I'm not very familiar with the process, but Cindy Hogan can walk you through it.

I use ScanNCut Canvasworkspace (it's free) and then send it over WiFi using the ScanNCut transfer option.

I do have a separate blade for fabric...but you don't have to. The standard blade cuts both fabric & paper.

ScanNCut2 isn't a printer, so you'd need to print it then cut it or use the "draw" option to draw it instead of printing it.
