See the shot above with the blue tubing and electric boxes? Our contractor devised a system for us. That bracing system is attached to the actual wall. The tubes allow us to snake any wires we need up to the tv and all the electronics, except our DVR box, is below in the bottom cabinets.
Then he placed a board flush with the new mantel surround over that whole system and made 3 electric outlets that are hidden behind the tv. You can see it better in the picture below the blue tubing shot in the picture above. Hope that helps!

I wish I knew the paint name. Our painter just had them color match it to the rest of the trim in our home. It is like a chantilly off white. Sorry I could not be more helpful!
