It was really exciting , wasn't it? I didn't watch the match live because I had to teach period 1 class on Friday morning but I saw the news in the morning and was so surprised and happy. I got the special edition of the newspaper at 8 a.m. at Chigasaki station with pictures of Honda and Endo celebrating after scoring which was so exciting. It's too bad about the game against Paraguay but Japan played a great game and fought hard. Congratulations Japan - they did better than France and Italy.

You used to run 15 kilometres a day? That's amazing! How often do you go running these days? I don't know about "So-Ran-Bushi" dance but I'd like to see that someday. By the way, your cheesecake looks really good. Yum!

I put on my team shirt and cheered for Japan. I thought team Japan had the best supporters and funniest costumes. My favourites were the supporters dressed as grains of rice. I cried when Japan lost. Did you cry, too? Continue reading

I cheered for Japan too, with supporters in Tokyo. Japan played really well so they were unlucky not to get a draw. I'm happy that England could go through to the next round - they played very badly against Algeria. I'm hoping for a good result in the game tonight against Denmark - come on Japan!

That's really interesting for me to hear about Prof. Ano's class. Many students said they enjoy his class and now I understand why. Doing English drama is a great way to study but it is very hard too. See you tomorrow, Denise

It's interesting to read what you said about students' 'slander' or gossip about other students' clothes. Children can be so cruel and thoughtless to each other. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy your university life. I don't like the rainy season either but today the sun was shining and I could dry my clothes so I was happy about that. Also, many flowers came out in my garden so I enjoy that too. See you tomorrow.

We put salt in with the plums and then put a heavy weight on top. After 3 days lots of "ume juice" came out so we took off one of the weights. Now we have to wait. Continue reading

Ayumi, that's amazing that you planned an event for so many people. It is a very good experience I think. Did you organize any events for Bunkyo's festival? By the way, I'd like to see that DVD.
I started making umeboshi. Continue reading

This is a really good picture. Bangladesh and Japan are so different. I think the connection between tourism and the environment is very interesting and a very important topic to study. We have to save our environment for the future so it is wonderful that you are studying that.
Too bad about the rain but going to an onsen is fun. I love onsen.

I went swimming at Kamakura beach last week. It was cold but it was fun.My favourite beach is Morito because they have some great beach huts for live music and food like jerk chicken.
Your welcome camp sounds great. This is a really good photo. You said you got “Fit’s” as a prize but what is it? See you on Friday, Denise

How was your barbecue? I hope it didn't rain when you were playing soccer. I'm really looking forward to the World Cup. It's not long now. I found my old Japan team shirt from Japan/Korea World Cup. I will wear it again to support Japan against Holland.

Your travels and study trips sound really interesting. It is such a good experience to go to different countries and experience other cultures. I think Korea will be very hot in summer! This year I will stay in Japan for my summer vacation. I like fireworks so I want to watch fireworks from the beach at Enoshima and Kamakura this summer. I would like to travel to Turkey. I have never been there but I am interested in Turkish culture so I'd like to go. I am looking forward to reading your blog again on Friday, Denise

This is an amazing cake. You are really good at cake decoration. Lucky friend who ate this. I want to see more pictures of sweets and desserts you made. By the way, I used to teach at Ferris and I had several Korean students in my Drama class. It's a nice university I think. That's so good that you have some Korean friends. Speaking Korean is a very useful skill I think. See you in class next week, Denise
