Hi Rick, Please don't let the label, "inventory," become a bad word! I like the word, "inventory." Inventory is a great label, whether the purpose is to sell, or otherwise. I consider the domains in my portfolio, "inventory," though I am following your directive to develop them out, instead of sell.
I thought you meant, 1-800-domain names are coming back in vogue! That's not what you meant, right? There are 1800 new gTLDs set to be released. What a coincidence!
Guess Candy.com is doing allright from type-in - that's great! The bigger part of Nuts.com's traffic is also type-in, according to observations posted on theDomains: Nuts.com: Direct Navigation Traffic up 105% & Google Orgainc Traffic Up 32% Since Acquisition Of Domain http://www.thedomains.com/2012/09/10/nuts-com-direct-navigation-traffic-up-105-google-orgainc-traffic-up-32-since-acquisition-of-domain The goal of every developer would still be to be properly indexed in Google and Bing, besides build on a great name.
My favorite quote from RicksBlog:there are ways to focus on domains with limited or no traffic that have value. Innovative names that may have value. But no value to those domainers personally until it is sold to a 3rd party.
