Word Play: Harland Miller
Now, let's give a little injection of life to these stuffy old books and garnish it with a bit of satire. Harland Miller says. Well, the U.K. based sometimes author, sometimes artist, publicity shy, White Cube represented, next Pop Art extraoridinaire did a little more than re-branding those old time classics with his canvas. Take a stroll down his altered Penguin jackets and you'll see yourself chuckling. Oh you dirty filthy whore, please dont' let me down? Love. Someone, please buy me one. (Oh heck, even a print would suffice) Continue reading

Your bare white walls needs a meaningful face lift for the new years, and what better way than to slap on a large jetset inspiration of famous monuments in bright pink? 1930s Debauchery: Smoking Fortunes by Eskimo Designs
Stumbled upon a stunning illustration from the invite of Sydney's 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art's fundraiser by Eskimo Designs. Seductress' hair like the midnight sky, telephone cord entwined, sheesha smokes billowing and opium pipes, a peer into the glorious art deco debauchery in the Orient. Smells a little bit like Christmas at the fragrant harbour! Continue reading

Wind: 3.1 Philip Lim Resort 2011 via Shopbop
Strange how rooftop wind in the hair and manic flutter of a dress induces female consumer high. Shopbop's video lookbook for Philip Lim's resort 2011 collection is truly a success. Mesmerized by the squint and the wind, I think I just might purchase a few of these dresses. Click here for the video and shop the rest of the collection Continue reading

At Joyce's 40th Anniversary Party: Ruinart x Yueminjun
I was tunneling around the Museum of Medical Science for Joyce's 40th anniversary last night, blowing air kisses, gawking at archive items from Romeo Gigli, Thierry Mugler and various 80's fashion powerhouse, when I noticed the most peculiar bottles. Attendees were not serving the usual Moet, they were pouring flutes after flutes out of these decorated flasks and I had to, had to (!) stop to examine . And boy was I surprised. These were anything but commercial, I'm drinking limited edition Ruinart x Yueminjun champagne! Gasp! That's how you treat the VIPs nowadays, out of exclusive container with bright... Impulsive Consumption of the Week - Karen Walker Sunnies
The other afternoon, I was wading through Mido's spectacles mecca (HK's best bet for all frames weird and whimsical) and found 2 pairs of the best sun worship fantastic pieces. And little did I know that this one stuck, that golden Egyptian sun goddesses ads re-emerged from my memory, and here they are! All screaming "Buy Me!" Karen Walker, thanks for giving me a style boost for my upcoming South African trip. And just in case, oh curious ones, I bought angular retro (Pic 1 right) and unibrow one bar (Pic 2, also right). Planning on a cheeky switch around,... Continue reading

Aren't You Glad You Didn't Get the PS1?: Proenza Schouler SS11 Bags are THAT much Better
I've been salivating over the Proenza Schouler PS1 bag since its debut in 2008 and have been talked out of purchasing my very own keepsake, (Thanks - Another Angle) and boy am I glad! The Spring Summer '11 collection has matured into a handsome display of casual sophistication with careful details worth paying a little more for that vanity arm candy. My top choices are (Pic 1) the 2 stud Electric Blue Snakeskin buckled box bag and (Pic 9) the Celine-esque white framed camel tote. What are yours? Continue reading

Central Saint Martins in Hong Kong?!
Just when we have a month odd left to the end of the year, I had a +push pause+ moment in time, what have I done this year? What have I accomplished? What could I have done better? The whirlwind thoughts went on and I decided to open up a trust-worthy spreadsheet and compile a to-do list for 2011. "Be More Creative" was one, and I thought, hey, I had a mini conversation about taking IT classes at HKU with a friend, well, design course beckons as well, maybe I can sign up for a few classes at CSM in... Me at Al imaraaat: Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010
Off to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, smells like grown-men-acting-like-teen spirit at the F1 races. Expectations runs high as the circuit apparently costs a staggering 800 million pounds to build and all of that world's largest, finest, biggest and bestest things in the brag town of Dubai. This will mark my first experience in Arab excess, I'll be keeping my shoulders covered and my best Arabic attempt of saying Inshallah and Shukurans. Pictures to come! Continue reading

Swing Revival: Electro Swing Fever
I've been tapping my feet, swinging to the beat whenever I hear the remix of Tu Vuo' Fa' L'americano L'Americano, L'Americnao. Doop bee doop-be-doop-be doop, doop be doop be do be dee! Europe's caught the Swing fever for a while now and finally, I've been starting to hear bits and bobs at our local Dragon-i and the likes. Here's 4 CDs worth of swing just to satisfy your feet tapping needs. Best with this season's full skirts a la Prada and a classic bottle of Coca Cola! Continue reading

Catch it Before its Gone: The Selby Book Online
Interior photographer Todd Selby makes an interesting business decision by putting up his glossy US$35 book - The Selby Is In Your Place online, completely free, till Friday. The book debuted 6 months ago after his successful blog The Selby took the interior-sphere by storm, Todd showed the world a daily dose of creative homes and scribbles, and even secured a deal with Cole Hann, happy snapping for the "Inspired Lives" campaign. Drumming up sales by giving prospective buyers a little now you've seen it, now you don't, now you want to buy it, is actually, pretty genius for its... Continue reading

Straight As A Pole: The Armoury
According to an average straight male, dressing very well and being straight does not coexist. This is an absolute. Apparently, there is a proven correlation between caring how you look and liking the same sex. So the less you care, the straighter you are, and women will be swept away by your "I die for beer" Tees and other poor choices of clothing item. So, where is our savior to this unfortunate death of style? The newly opened The Armoury, boasting high quality menswear product all English and Italian throwing in bespoke tailoring from the local cream of the crop... Continue reading

Do I want Lanvin (x H&M) , Not Flowers or Diamonds? I choose the latter
When a luxury label goes mass market, female hysteria ensues. It was genuinely difficult to divert my attention elsewhere when I see rants and raves, anticipation and excitement in every possible direction of another H&M collaboration that seems to stir the hearts of female bloggers worldwide. Sneak peek here, leaked shots there, and finally, the LANVIN x H&M collection video is here for us to command and conquer! One shoulder everything, satin and silk , florals and ruffles, tutus and trenches, ribbon heels, pearly necklaces, clutches, pouches and various Alber Elbaz scribbles will infiltrate the streets. I do not deny,... Continue reading

Mogul Crush: Diego Della Valle of Tod's
Diego Della Valle, can you be my mentor? Dream big, think big like the Italian entrepreneur with a handsome CV - Owner of Tod's, Hogan and Roger Vivier, largest shareholder of Saks 5th Ave (19.1% stake, Oh My), sits on the boards of LVMH, Ferrari SpA and Marcolin, recent recipient of the Brand Visionary Award and of course, an absolute business icon in the fashion industry... who can get a friend to gnaw on his signature driver's shoe at Barneys celebrating his excellence, just for the cameras. Definitely my old man crush of the month. Continue reading

Clothes Rail Envy: Mary Katrantzou SS11
London eclectic at its best, only Mary can turn grandmother lampshades, garish floral curtains, chandelier remnants and all things home decor into a graphic explosion body buffet, and not the overwhelming kind, just the perfect amount, 70% full and still leaves room for imagination. A collection for the brave and the whimsical. I just want to step into one of these fictional chamber dresses so that a random can ask, hey, can you shake that lampshade skirt of yours? And I would feebly attempt, small rattles you hear. I then sheepishly reply "Maybe a tug of my curtains would be... Continue reading
