Hi Kim, Thanks for reading and for asking this question! We use the Trango Junior. We conducted a great deal of research and this was the only one we could find that was recommended for kids our daughter's size. At the time we bought it, she was 21-months-old and in the 75th percentile for height and weight. It's pretty good, but we aren't huge fans of the leg loops. They can be a little hard to adjust. If you're planning on using it in a gym, you may just check to make sure they're cool with you using a harness with two loops that are connected at the chest (which the Trango does) as opposed to a single loop at the waist like many other full-body kid harnesses. There's a new harness that looks cool by Edelrid called the Fraggle. You may check into that one. We haven't tried it, but it looks to be user friendly and comfortable. Otherwise, we do like the Trango Junior for the time being. Let us know if you have other questions! -Pablo

While reading Michael Lanza's fascinating book, Before They're Gone: A Family's Year-Long Quest to Explore America's Most Endangered National Parks , I couldn't help but keep thinking about the word "impact." Not only did this family's journey into some of the most beautiful and wild places in the United States... Continue reading

Thanks, Jared! We definitely agree that the KCIII is the way to go of you'll be doing all the carrying of kid and stuff. Enjoy!
Thanks, Valerie! We love to paddle and camp, too. We've never been snowshoeing, but would love to try it. There aren't usually opportunities for that in Nashville, TN :-)
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Dawn! Thanks for the nice words, and we're really happy to have found your blog!

We recently completed a fun (and very well received - thanks for that!) series on playing and learning in the urban outdoors for Nature Rocks. Here's another idea that builds on the post we wrote about city greenways. Taking sunset walks on our local greenway in Shelby Bottoms Park is... Continue reading

The morning of our daughter's second birthday started out with a game of hide and seek. What that looked like - the special birthday version - was her running straight from her bed to the bathroom yelling "hide and seek," followed by a slam of the door and a lock... Continue reading

This is our last of six posts about playing and learning in the urban outdoors for Nature Rocks. Part 1 was an introduction to urban outdoors, followed by University Campuses, Natural Playgrounds, Greenways and Downtown. We couldn't leave it at 6, so here's a bonus post - Sunset Walks. _______________________________________________________________________________________________... Continue reading

Words of wisdom, River Mud! Thanks for sharing your insight. Scouting ahead is a really helpful tip, as is being prepared instead of avoiding. Thanks!

TBC, it really is nice to live in a city that cares about, and maintains their parks system. Nashville does a great job of that, and I'm glad to hear the Twin Cities do, too!

NatureRocks.org We would really like to convey how happy we are to be ambassadors for Nature Rocks. It's an amazing resource for helping families get outside and actively engaged with the natural environment. They are now under the ever-growing umbrella of The Nature Conservancy, which will further the Nature Rocks... Continue reading

I used to believe there were tiny people-like beings living within traffic lights. I imagined there was a director of operations hovering invisibly above the intersection relaying instructions telepathically to the lighting units below. There was one worker per bulb in every unit, and they would work in perfect synchronicity... Continue reading

We haven't published new posts as frequently over the past few weeks for two reasons: 1) Work. It has been really, really busy for both of us. 2) For about the past week we've been battling a toddler illness. Her cough improved, then worsened, and it just seems like it's... Continue reading

Jen, thanks for reading, and we'd be happy to discuss gluten-free diets. It's not as hard as you might think. Although, we are way more consistent with keeping our daughter's diet gluten-free than our own. We do pretty good though. :-)
