Pastor John, Thanks so much for commenting on our blog! The Foundation Center can answer your questions and point you to resources for fundraising, but we don't award grants, make donations, or offer direct financial assistance. Here are some resources that may be able to help you: -Article: Where can I find information on grants to non-U.S. organizations? -Map of Direct Grants by U.S. Grantmakers to Non-U.S. Recipients To see Kenya specifically, see this map: If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us directly through our online reference service: Sincerely, Elyse Klova Program Associate Foundation Center-Atlanta
Joshua, that's a great point. Social media can definitely bring a lot of noise, and it can be difficult and time-consuming to sort out what relationships really matter. Visual mapping is one good approach to that problem. Beth Kanter has a good article about the usefulness of mapping on her blog:
Anntinette we are here to help! We've got some great experts coming up in the next few months, as well as a number of great special programs. You can check out the calendar here: If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me:
Thanks for your question, Barbara! We will continually have an Expert in Residence, though the offered topics and format may change a little from month to month. This month we have Pro Bono Partnerships staff and volunteers as our Experts, June will be Glenda Hicks, CPA, and we're in the process of planning for July. We have plenty of other classes on fundraising and a ton of books that can help you pull together the finances you need to start your organization, so feel free to email me at and I'd be happy to help.
No problem! Someone that we follow on Twitter was passing it around as I was writing the post and thought it was a great addition. Thanks to you too for the article! It's great to see other people's characterizations of different social media outlets; it's really helpful for people trying to decide where exactly there organization should have a presence.
Thanks for the extra info!'s Salary Wizard is a great place to start.
Yeah we really like the idea too! It's also changing the funding landscape, as individuals are able to raise money not only for their own projects, but on behalf of organizations that they support. Thanks for your comment! Elyse
