I'm curious as to everyone's experience with their families. Are your families supportive of your efforts to eat Paleo? Are you the lone modern hunter-gatherer lost in a vast gluten wasteland? One thing that may be stopping you from going (pardon the pun) whole hog paleo is the perceived cost of this lifestyle. I'll tell you some of my tricks of how I feed 3 people, and 2 cats on an average of $100/week. Yes, the 2 cats, Zaida (my cat, petite tortoiseshell with lovely exotic Arabic name) and Pudder (chubsy wubsy male cat of Jack's) when not dueling to the death, are carnivores and eat both cooked and raw food. My title defines me. ::SIGH:: I am not totally off, but I've definitely got one leg dragging on the ground. While living in Arizona my life consisted of my job and CrossFit. The people I worked out with were my friends & family, this made it extremely easy to stay committed to the Paleo & healthy lifestyle. I eat when I’m happy. I eat when I’m sad. In other words, I eat A LOT!! When we are hit suddenly with major stress, it’s easy to grab the bag of chips or pint of Ben&Jerry's. I am not the girl who prepares on Sundays. I have GREAT intentions to be that girl, but I am 23 and everything else in my life ends up being more important. Yet, I still maintain a Paleo lifestyle. I rummaged through the fridge this afternoon, pulling out the ingredients to make dinner. Wha? I forgot to defrost the chicken breast for paleo pizza! Oh brother, now what? I moved some things around and was little perplexed. What would dinner be now? There a small package of boneless pork loins...hmmmm. What about using those instead? So Christmas is upon us - 18 days to go, as a matter of fact!!! If you are like me, your budget is sssttttretched beyond max. Weekends are tough, many are off work/school/etc, your looking for entertainment, attending social gatherings, it's just life! I used to dread the weekends, those around me would try to force sweet drinks and junk food my way, why because they just do not understand. I think others feel guilty when they see you eating an apple and they have a cookie, or your having a burger with no bun and they have a wod of bread to digest. Yesterday's post included a few Thanksgiving tips from our fellow Paleo friend Steve. Let's break down Thanksgiving. Meat: Turkey some people have beef roast or ham. Vegetables: Green Beans, Sweet Potatoes without the brown sugar, Salad. Fruit: Cranberry's, apples, Paleo Pumpkin Pie. Drink water with lemon. Just a suggestion, if your tempted by a roll, this year eat half the roll, don't make an announcement that YOUR ONLY EATING HALF A ROLL, because your on Paleo. As women we ALLOW ourselves to be pulled 100 ways. If you have children, a partner/spouse, a job, etc, women tend to say YES more than NO and spread themselves thin for others. By no means do I want you to EVER STARVE yourself!!! Sometimes we MUST go out to eat! You have several choices, first and foremost, where you go.
