Cool stuff. I'm mostly into Spey casting but I've been doing a little research on Tenkara lately. Tenkara is proving itself to be an equally interesting fly fishing tecnique, and history seems to show hat both methods diverged from the Western tradition of overhand casting at roughly the same time, about 200 years ago. I found a video of a Japanese guy using a Tenkara-style bait-fishing technique for BC steelhead. It's a little lengthy, but after about the 12-minute mark he starts hooking up with some huge fish, and it's unbelievable to watch how he fights them, sometimes hopping downstream in belly-deep water. Here's the link if you're interested: I'm curious if you know where I can get my hands on some more information on the type of rod he's using.
