Interests: 1. Reading. Favourite authors include Alistair MacLeod, John Steinbeck, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.K. Rowling, Richard Adams, L.M. Montgomery, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Barbara Kingsolver, Clarice Lispector, Virginia Woolf, T.S. Eliot, Anne Lamott and Charles Dickens. 2. Writing. Mostly lame novels that never get finished, and short stories that never live up to my expectations. Am planning an attempt at writing/mutilating poetry. 3. Music (both listening and playing). Favourite artists include Hawksley Workman, Bruce Springsteen, Fiona Apple, Keane, Tegan and Sara, Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor, Feist, Howard Fix, and Jenn Grant(!!!). 4. Movies. Good ones include Fargo, Amelie, The Godfather, Elsa & Fred, and Lord of the Rings. 5. Television. Specifically Gilmore Girls, Jeopardy, The Office and Grey's Anatomy. 6. Eating. Dark chocolate, mint, apples, almonds, jelly beans, pound cake, berries, tomatoes, fondue, sushi. 7. Tae Kwon Do. In particular: flying side-kicks, reverse punches, black pants, toi-gye hyung, exhausting parties, friends. 8. Soccer. Even though this year's World Cup was lousy. 9. Art. Pretty, pretty, pretty! 10. Nature. Quite self-explanatory.

You know what makes me happy? Simon posts. On the subject of names, "Usnavy" is a fairly popular moniker along the coast of Colombia, thanks to the frequent passage of ships with "U.S. NAVY" emblazoned on their hulls.... But the sheer brilliance of "Mount Sorry Banana" takes top prize for Most Amazing Name Ever in my books, usurping the previous champion, a fellow by the name of Power Stick (allegedly inspired by his father's fondness for vintage videogames).
