Thank you. It's so nice to know you are out there, reading the blog. I'm glad it brings you some joy. I try not to sugar coat, but report and then share what I might be feeling, even in a terse comment. I'm doing great with all the surface stuff, it's the undertow I worry about. Love you xoxox

Remember when I started this series on a daily basis? Oh those were sweet naive days of yore. This past week was all about "finishing strong" for Harper for school. Starting last week it was four more weeks of school... Continue reading

Another week in the books. Another week of uncertainty and confusion. Another week of constantly having to remind myself that this feeling of calm is always just the eye of the hurricane. And the storm is close by on all... Continue reading

Well. Week seven. Here we are. Whatever. Please see my previous post about how I'm feeling about it all. I mean, I'm feeling A LOT but it comes down to "not much I can do about it" and "the only... Continue reading

My sister Jen died on April 17, 2008. April 17 is a tough day and the beginning of April is usually filled with dreadful anticipation. Often the anticipation is worse than the actual day. This year I 100% forgot. I... Continue reading

I made a joke a few years ago about Harper going to college. The joke being along the lines of "if there even is such a thing as college by then." Well. This pandemic is making that joke real. More... Continue reading

Easter is not a big tradition other than egg hunting in our house. I can't tell you what we did last year. Mabye we hid eggs? Maybe we had brunch at a friend's house? Not a big holiday... But this... Continue reading

I fell off the blogging wagon last week because let's be honest: The novelty has worn off. The novelty of staying in to avoid this novel corona virus has gotten old. And now the really hard part begins - continuing... Continue reading

Our yard crew came to remove a giant stump in our back yard. We had the tree taken down about three years ago and left the stump. But with some possible construction to come this year, the stump had to... Continue reading

Thursday was adventure day. Safe, social distancing adventure day. Long drive on non busy freeways up through Santa Clarita out to the poppy reserve. I know, I know, best to stay home. Well. We are rebels. Safe, social distancing rebels.... Continue reading

This week started online school. When they announced two weeks in March Kurt and I figured months, then as the days went on, we knew it would be the rest of the school year. We planned accordingly. And now it... Continue reading

Harper wanted to wear pajamas all weekend so we said sure! Why the hell not? If you recall from previous - Harper asked if Friday could be Saturday and Saturday could be Friday. She honored the Saturday is Friday and... Continue reading

I have a sinus infection with major post nasal drip and it's been really sucky. Way too much coughing and not sleeping well and ugh. Talked to the doctor on the phone, got antibiotics but tried over the counter stuff... Continue reading

Mornings often start with some quality Biscuit time. Then breakfast at the new desk set up. I had Harper try a touch typing game. She did pretty well. I'll see if she'll play for a few minutes every day. Maybe... Continue reading

We worked on another weekly schedule, talked about it with Harper, going to keep it super flexible. She woke up around 6am and immediately asked me if she could do yoga. ALREADY OFF SCHEDULE!! LOL So she did one session... Continue reading

EDIT - Typepad formatting went all wackadoodle at the bottom...weird. This Sunday was full of weekend tv watching, including Kurt's favorite movie for Harper to see: "The Sword In The Stone." Good wacky fun. I pulled out Trader Joe's almond... Continue reading

This Saturday is much different than last Saturday. This Saturday was more real in the face of this pandemic. Strange to not have to rush to sports or playdates or birthday parties again. Sad too. But here we are. After... Continue reading

Today the ear was better, but we took it easy in the morning. Harper asked again to do yoga - yay! So glad she's loving Cosmic Kids. And I love that she said on the first day "She's from England!"... Continue reading

4 is a lot! :-) 1) a romance novel. 2) I wake up at 5 and write in the quiet dark for an hour. Lately that hasn't been working what with earaches, stress, etc. I'm being gentle with myself and what I can get done. 3) I wanted to get buttermilk to make Irish soda bread. 100% unnecessary! 4) The diorama is about Foxes. When Harper completes the assignment, I'll update! Thanks for reading!
Anything to help! :-) I kinda eyeballed it based on what I had leftover, but here goes: 1 onion 2 cloves garlic olive oil flour 1-2 cups milk* salt pepper 3 Cups (or so) of cooked rice 2 cups (or so) cooked chicken 2 cups (or so) frozen broccoli 2 cups (or so) shredded cheese Saute onion and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes over med heat add about a 1Tbs flour then about a cup of milk and stir until thickened add more milk or flour to make it creamy *I think I ended up using about 2 or 3 cups of milk add salt and pepper add the cheese and stir to combine Add rice and mix add chicken and mix add broccoli and mix put all into a greased casserole dish, put a bit more cheese on top bake in a 350 oven for about 1/2 hour or until bubbly Enjoy!

Last night Harper woke up crying at about 11pm with an earache. She cried and cried and cried. My theory is that half of that was unexpressed emotional stress about all these changes. Poor thing. I gave her motrin and... Continue reading
