I always saw coach Kul as a rental and not a long term hire for the staff.
Everyone is replaceable. I would cast my vote for Kevin Patrick, but I ultimately respect CMR's ability to put his staff together.
Goodbye Canespace!
So this is how it ends? We have been through many years and many tears. We have lived through good times and bad times. And now, we are absolutely and completely done. The end of Canespace has come as we know it. It is sad but true. Certain bloggers ruined it for us all. And that is sad. I...

National Signing Day 2017
Once again National Signing Day is just around the corner. So we recently heard that it this a really big thing, right? According to many fans it is supposed to be like really important. We are sure this is true, but we are also sure that it is over-hyped. One thing we can assume is that we ...

Not Going To Bore U With The Details
I am not going to bore you intelligent college football fans with details of why the Miami Hurricanes 2016 football team is not living up to our expectations. I'll save that for another time with my incredibly insightful analysis of the stats and facts (sarcasm alert). But in the meantime, I wi...
It's not that deep or complicated. UNC's Qb played like a sure fire first round talent. A dual threat that kept drives alive. Kayaa played like a player that needs a lot of work on pocket presence and awareness.

Take Your Time, Build Some Talent

Soup, not sure if this was said before or not. In regards to the Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John blog post, the John is obviously Jimmy "John"son.

I just hope Miami doesn't try to play a finesse speed game and try to beat App State with a pass happy attack.
Smack them in the face early and often.

Great post.
I think the poor 3rd down conversion % is a result of Richt being a little too pass happy on first down. I understand you need to mix it up, but I think passing on first down is much more potent after the run has been established with playaction.

I have been reading the entire off-season and let me recap for the newcomers who are just coming back to the Space.
We have extremely diverse yet distinct groups of fans led by the following:
Umike: Every Golden recruit is a project or reach and Golden sucks because he didn’t have the stones to have fired the D’Onofrio.
T-Sully: Rational thinker realizing the offense did the defense no help at all, and improvement is needed all around.
Go Canes: Golden is the second coming of Jimmy Johnson, just give him 18 years to figure it out.
And my personal fav VA Canes: Man up, smack somebody in the mouth, come together as a team and win some dam games.
I may have missed some because I do enjoy a G&T from time to time.
Canes Camp Day 7: Ice, Ice Baby
When UM head coach Al Golden announced recently that linebackers coach Michael Barrow was leaving the team to take care of some serious family issues it did not take him long to figure out how to fill that vacancy. Running backs coach Hurlie Brown, a former defensive player and defensive minde...
Its sad when fans have a hard time finding confidence in a Miami defense to get off the field on 3rd and long. So many times we had them right where we wanted them and time after time would just give up a huge chuck and let the drive keep going. So yes.. 3rd down will be critical.

Is this worse than 3rd and short on offense; getting stuffed and having to punt?
Penalties and Turnovers: Why U Must Prevent
In our next look into the many ways that Al Golden can improve the University of Miami football team from last year to this season we decided to look at the all important penalties and turnovers as one key measures of potential success during any particular football game or season. You probabl...

Sun Life renovations are pointless.
I have it on good word that the U play future home games in David Becham's back yard. Capacity is limited to one picnic bench and a couple of patio loungers, but it will be a very intimate setting.

What happened to the star whore UMike that we all know and love.
Bashing a 5-star transfer? Say it aint so Joe. Say it a'int so!!
Wait, I forgot. Golden is clueless.
Let's all sign the petition that Golden can not make a single offer or roster move without the signed written consent of the Office of Major League UMike.

A football player for example has twice as much work and responsibility as a normal student. Work out all year, Spring and Fall practices, game weeks, film study travel for games, bowl games, etc etc etc. And on top of all that need to have their grades up to date.

This is a HUGE pile of BS. The only person that can make a statement like this obviously never went to college.
The Birth Of A Man And A Miracle
Every year in April and again in November, in honor of Sean Taylor's birth and tragic death, Canespace will dedicate a memorial feature to recognize his contributions to the University of Miami. Sean Michael Maurice Taylor was born in Miami on April 1, 1983. Perhaps by fate, maybe by coincidenc...

I think you are trying to argue with me but you are helping to make my point.
Here is a kid with all the talent in the world. Goes UNDRAFTED out of the U. Gets COACHED up in the NFL and signed an awesome contract.
I'm ecstatic for Sam Shields, but his legacy while AT THE U, is a bust.

I think stars are NOT the most important thing when evaluating high-school or junior college talent. There are too many variables.
Such as:
Growth spurts: Depending on the position, size is a big component of how many stars a kid gets. Say a 6-0 QB has the same skill set as 6-4 QB. The 6-4 QB will be 4/5 star while the 6-0 would be 3/4.
Work ethic: Will the kid hit the gym and the playbook. Does he have the drive to make him the best player he can possibly be. We have had a ton of high star kids recently with low drive or focus.
Coaching: This is the biggest concern over the past 10 years for this program. Too many players have the same skill set as freshmen as they do as seniors. No one seems to get better or "coached up". Someone posted a couple of days ago giving Shannon kudos for moving Shields from WR to DB his senior year. They acted like Shannon was a genius to do this. They left off the part where the Packer defensive coaches called out the U by saying that it seemed like Shields had never studied film before because he did not know what to look for.
I don't care how many stars they have next to their name on rivals or scout coming out of high school. If they are still receiving high school level coaching while enrolled at college, they will never develop their skill set to reach their full potential.
Sign them up then COACH them up.
