This sounds MMMMMGood. fried "anything" in a bun works for me but the spicy batter & Shrimp combo has the ayes. Will try this out on my stomach soon!
I remember reading about Banh Mi last year... it might have been an Anthony Bourdain thing. This recipe looks great, kudos for baking your own bread. Do you know of any where north of London... ie Scotland where I could hunt this down? I should just make it myself, I know. Look forward to updates on the baking front.
Great wee demonstration and nicely edited as well. Will you book be on sale in the UK?

Yum! I always chuckle to myself when I think of things that echo " A dish best served cold". I know I've just made myself sound like a mad cartoon villan but still the comic relish with which you can utter the phrase when serving this dish make it a goer from the start! Thanks for sharing :)
Here in the Scottish Borders we've been blessed with a little sunshine though it's raining very heavily today. For me, summer is about fish, braaifleis and berries for pudding. Fish done En Papillote - fresh herbs from the garden, rosemary, thyme etc, Braaifleis/BBQ with plenty of salads and of course our wonderful fresh Strawbs and Raspberries with lashings of cream or ice cream. First dish - rocky road - Bring on the fridge cake! IT"S SUMMER TIME! :)

That pastry recipe is very straight forward, good stuff! Would you ever use a food mixer with dough hook attached? Spiced Cherry filling sounds awesome. Can. Not. Wait. :)

The presentation here is perfect for banquet dining - 200 plus of these would make quite an impression!

I love this recipe, it's everything that is good about a dessert - no half measures. I may try and do it using my McGyver Ice-cream making method.
