It is time to say goodbye to Felicia.
The next call I make to Felicia's vet will be to schedule the end of her life. In just the last month, she has lost nearly half her body weight. I had been giving her buprenorphine for her pain every 12 hours, but I realized yesterday that I have to increase the frequency as it's become heartbre...

Don't Worry
I'm still here! This summer is about 75% busier, workwise, than last summer, and that seems to go for just about everyone around me. While I'm happy this means we're all gainfully employed or at least involved in professional projects,... Continue reading

5 Valentine's Day Love Notes
I've been going to a chiropractor the past month after a pretty bad car accident on New Year's Eve (more on that in the next post). He gives me "homework" after each adjustment; do this exercise when you wake up, document your pain level at this time of the day, et cetera. Today, being Valentine...

The next Generation of Sartorial Blogging
Girl Friday posting has been weak at best lately. Not entirely my fault; I can't log into my account more than 50% of the time. I've been hella busy lately, too, so when I have something to say here and... Continue reading

Pepsi and Pakora
I've been a little off the grid lately, my apologies for that. Sometimes life just presents you with so many more fun things to do than sit down at your laptop for more than a few hours a week. Perhaps... Continue reading

Glad you liked it! I always have chipotles and olives on hand, so I'm able to make little batches just for me.
Chipotle Potato Salad
I love summer eating: salads, salads and more salads! For a break from the lettuce, here's a creamy potato salad with a big chipotle kick. I'm always asked to bring this favorite to barbecues and religiously serve it every 4th of July. It can easily be doubled for a big party. A smaller dice mea...
I don't peel the chayotes here, since the ones most readily available are the smooth-fleshed chayotes as opposed to the spiny-fleshed ones. The skin is very soft, raw or cooked. Softer than an apple.
Chayote Chopped Salad
Inspired by my dad, who whipped up a chopped salad with chayote last summer. Before that, I'd never thought to eat it raw before; I've always boiled or broiled it. The prep time is long but worth it. This has fast become one of the most popular things I make. Same-size veggies are key to chopped...
