KELLY -- I'm so glad you are concentrating on your writing and haven't gone back to teaching. Enjoy!!! ANGI -- Shoot, I totally should have added a good breakfast made by someone else! As for the kitties, ummm, yes, they chew their toenails. Disgusting... no snoring though. BELLA -- Isn't she wonderful!! I love that photo. Love, love, love! I wanna hug her, whoever she is. J&S -- Gracias! Missing you up in Seattle, longing for sun and El Charro and many laughs. Sigh...

HEIDI -- I seriously looked for a good quality video clip of that scene, but couldn't find one. So sad. Thanks!! ADRIENNE -- OH!! I'm so glad!!! My tante just made a scrapbook of my wedding for me and I love it. NANCY -- hee-hee, the mother of the bride absolutely should be biased! Heck no to pepto pink. What kind of best friend would I be if I allowed that?! BELLA -- Thanks. And I'll tell her. She'll get a giggle from that. =)
JODI -- Thank you very much!! BELLA -- Well, you know it's true. Mornings should be approached with caution, and only with a steamy mug gripped firmly in our hands. Yes? Yes! Hugs at ya!
JP took me for a drive over to North Bend and Mount Si to break in my new camera. love, Love, LOVE.... except sometimes I don't know what I'm doing, so I'm looking for a local class to take. In the meantime, here are some favorites, the before and the... Continue reading

Jael, Great job on both articles. I enjoyed them both, but especially the first draft piece as that's where I'm at. Must ignore my urge to edit every word. So. Hard.

Usually, I agree with Karen Carpenter on the subject of Mondays. However, I'm considering requesting a Tuesday rewrite for "Rainy Days and Mondays," as I face my stack of patient reports tomorrow. BUT, that has no bearing on today. Today is Monday! Mondays now equal BLISS. And what is the... Continue reading

NESSA -- Oh, I do too!!! Every line is totally quotable. Thanks for stopping by! SHAN -- My pleasure, and back atcha! The bride in curlers is Eden, my best friend. She got married last February.
LOREN -- Aww, thank you! I appreciate it. I hope you and Brooke are doing well. ANGI -- HAHA!! I'll have a camera-sniffing dog circling your ride. Can't wait to see you. BELLA -- I almost didn't know what to do with myself, getting the letter and the camera in the same day. My cup overflows! Thanks for understanding! Those letters take a lot of time and energy, but oh so worth it.
"It takes some time to look like this!" "This is going in the Hairdo Hall of Fame!" Happy Black & White Wednesday, hosted by Heidi at "Me as a Mom." Continue reading

SHEILA -- It was... definitely the kind of day where you fall dead asleep afterwards. Happy exhaustion. NANCY -- Oh me too. Hilarious!
AMBER -- You are blessed. Find the fabric and Miss Eden can make you a pair. I'll be needing a backup pair, cuz I plan to wear these out! NANCY -- This was my favorite print left over from the blanket project, so I'm loving them. =) LORA -- There's nothing wrong with Random Unlinked Occurrences. Those things tend to my imagination run pell-mell down the slippery slope of preoccupied storytellers. But thanks for loving my jammies. They make me laugh!
Good news must be shared. And this weekend, the good tidings crept in slowly, then gained momentum like a thundershower. 1. The mailman came. Amid the pile of credit card offers, I got a letter in my box, a three-page letter from my 21-year-old nephew. He is in prison. I... Continue reading

MELISSA -- It really was. Thanks for stopping by! NESSA -- I tell ya, it's a lot more fun as an adult and with the ability/responsibility to take the kids somewhere. BELLA -- Right? My babysitters were super boring. One even took the poster out of my kids magazine (Natl Geo for kids? Don't remember). But how rude! HEIDI -- Ohmygoodness, Anja is one stylin girlie. We had loads of fun, even though it was over 100 degrees (Arizona). Thanks again, Heidi, for hosting!
CLAUDINE -- Awww... that's a really sweet way to describe it. My hubs is super shy and the best person in the world, so I'm partial. =)
HEIDI -- Thanks, Heidi!! You too. I love your photos. LISAANN -- Girl, I'm super excited for you! You're most welcome. You deserve all kinds of publishing success and it's thrilling to see it all unfolding for you. MELISSA -- Puuulease! If anyone understands trying to juggle a day job, while trying to write and keep a blog going, it's me. No apologies necessary. You're a true writing bud whether you're busy or not! Glad you liked the What Not to Wear post. I was cracking up.... if only it wasn't a true story. Alas!
ADRIENNE -- Thank you! HEIDI -- Ha! I can totally see the boys roaring down the street. It stinks to long for two different places, but great to have experienced both. And thank you for hosting B&W Wednesdays! NICOLE -- Yep, totally unique places. If only we had Star Trek technology to just beam back and forth!! NANCY -- Well, I miss the heat down there just because you never question what to wear. Cotton! And as light as possible, with cute sandals. That part was fun. BELLA -- Hey, thanks for linking up with her in the first place. I love her blog, but didn't know about it till you posted your lovely Roxy photos.

KELLY -- That's exactly how I am with character names. If someone tries to suggest a name, it never fits. It has to come from me. Aren't those PJ's hilarious? Definitely my only interesting ones. SHARY -- I think your method is, hands down, the most tried and true. One of my side characters just become so interesting, he's taking over! JEAN -- Wow! We're on the same wavelength. I can't wait to check out your series. Thanks for stopping by! ANGI -- Hey, you have actual Feetsie PJs. You know how badly I want a pair like that? JULIE -- Aren't they hilarious? By BFF and I used to make baby blankets and sell them at a farmer's market. She made these from some of the leftover flannel. I love picking up traits from others. It's a time-honored theft for writers.
We took them to a Family Fun Center that included miniature golf AND rides AND popcorn, then went home and ate ice cream (and spaghetti if their mom is reading) in front of Shrek. It was beautiful. Don't forget to click the button and browse the other blogs participating in... Continue reading

Do you cast your characters? Some picture a specific actor, relating their personality traits to a person in their novel. I only do this to a limited extent. I couldn't tell you who "plays" in my book, but a few people have a look and voice inspired by Hollywood. My... Continue reading

EDITORIAL NOTE: I just found a youtube video of Alton Brown's Seattle Q&A. YAY!!! Also, I was incorrect on the reference on the Meat Pies episode... the Jaws comment came earlier. The Meat Pies episode featured reference to the musical, "Sweeney Todd," and cannibalism.
LST -- Gracias. I admit, I feel I might die at the moment, but JP says he felt that way before his manly white blood cells won the battle. We'll see....
