It's like a sick sort of joke.
Not only is Islam a religion that is very easy to insult, it's also exceedingly obsessed with sex and rape. Nice.
A left-leaning friend of mine had posted on Facebook about "right-wing militia groups" that were forming, and drawing a parallel between them and Timothy McVeigh, and another parallel between them and Tea Parties. Another left-leaning friend (we may have common ground, but it's not politics) wrung her hands and said, "These people scare me." The original post stated that he wished the government would shut down Tea Parties before they turned into an army of McVeighs. I had to go back and reread what he'd said to make sure that yes, he actually was advocating the government using force to put a stop to dissenters. I replied and said that there are, in fact, conservative, fundamenalist, religion-driven militia groups and terrorist training camps springing up in the US, and what did he think about these? Oh yes: you won't hear much about them in the MSM because these camps are Muslim in nature. Not only did he not reply, he deleted his original post. So much for debate...

Taxed Enough Americans Bothered About Gargantuan Government's Excessive Reckless Spending!
Look at the history of "lone nut assassins." There's always more to the story than we're allowed to know.

Torn. On one hand, I think arts instruction in the schools is a good thing, provided it doesn't come at the expense of the basics (on the contrary, arts programs are usually the first to be cut). But I'm not okay with it being used for propaganda.
Quite an impressive rogues' gallery of friends our President is amassing, no?
Common sense states that if you should ever allow a nude, or even compromising, photo of yourself to be taken, you must assume it can and will end up in the wrong hands!
Why would a Muslim want to work where pork was being served, anyway? Unless that's next on the agenda...
I salute you! Are there any other religions in the world that impose a death penalty on anyone who leaves them?
Do you remember the frantic excuse-making when Obama bowed to the Saudi king? Oh, he was just being polite because he was taller than the other man! His body language in the photo with Sarkozy speaks volumes. For Obama to be the great statesman that he was supposed to be, you know, the one who was going to make the US popular with the world again, he sure does seem to be going to great lengths to alienate our allies.
I guess it would be too much to expect a Muslim man who didn't want his wife to become too Westernized, I don't know, not to move to a country where that influence might be a problem for him?
No. Not "dying for love," I'm sorry. Dying for something that's as far as possible from love. I agree with Paula. And like Paula, appreciate everything you do, Pamela.
I'm paraphrasing, but didn't George Bush (the elder) say something about Michael Dukakis to the effect of "to him, America is just another country between A----- and Z-----"? I can't recall the countries and I can't find the quote, but that seems like an excellent summary of our Dear Leader's attitude toward the country that elected him President.
Waiting for the cries of outrage from American feminists. Sorry, can't hear them over the crickets chirping. My poor Iranian sisters, I am so sorry for American silence.
Not that even a plain woman deserves to be treated this way, but these thugs seem to take perverse pleasure in targeting the particularly beautiful for their degradations.

Josh, your posts here have put an even more human face upon what's happening in SA. It's one thing to see these terrible pictures, another to read the words of someone who actually lives there. I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you are able to keep us all posted on your safety.

This may be an ignorant statement inspired by the horror and sadness I felt when looking at the pictures, but if I were white and South African, I would be finding a way to get out of that country posthaste. The problem, of course, is finding a country that will welcome them.

Very nice, but I agree about the flag; it should be oriented correctly. Love the "vintage" look of the letters.

Unreal is right. The only thing that is missing is a caption explaining how what is in the black and white picture is OK and what's in the color picture is bad and evil.
Try, just try, to imagine the furor if someone had shouted back, "YOU need another Crusades." Oh noes! Hate speech!

Whenever I see a Westerner wearing a keffiyeh, I wonder why that person isn't treated like someone dressed in full Nazi or KKK regalia.
Well, that's all right. The way we're headed, the United States of America no longer exists, either. (P.S. I'm sooooo sorry for our government, Israel.)
It takes enormous courage to stand against an overwhelming dictator regime. This woman is the 2010 incarnation of the student in Tiananmen Square.
