Well, Joe, you finally got your wish, McCormick is on the way up. He'd better produce or you'll be eating a whole lotta crow!

@SabresTopForwardsAlwaysTakeBeating No, what I'm saying is you beat other teams on the scoreboard, not with your fists, or through what you're suggesting, which is by playing dirty. Maybe we should have you lace up a pair of skates and get you in there to take care of the Bruins? I mean, any idiot can skate out there and hack a guys knee up right? Also, thank you for the great comeback from 1982 of "Just shtup" (including the fantastic misspelling), that just about made my day

@SabresTopForwardsAlwaysTakeBeating Yes, because fighting solves all the world's problems! How about we put some pucks in the net, win the games/series and let the Bruins worry about their tee times next week? Isn't that retribution enough? I know it would be for me!

@Orchard Park What did Sutton do to Vanek? I didn't know he was playing on two teams this post season! Sutton plays on Ottawa and railroaded Jordan Leopold on Friday night in, what I thought, was a clean hit--Leopold just had his head down and didn't see the freight train coming. It certainly wasn't a blindside hit. So why are we so worried about hitting, fighting, retribution and why someone is or isn't suspended...blah, blah, blah? Shouldn't we be slightly more concerned with our possible lack of scoring and most definitely our lack of finish right now? Ultimately, that is what wins games. You can't win games without scoring goals.

@SabresSouth Your first problem is that you're reading ESPN for hockey news. ESPN could care less about hockey. Try TSN for hockey news http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Kennedy sit a game or two to straighten him out. I'm thinking way outside the box here, but I kind of like: Torres-Roy-Vanek Ennis-Connolly-Pominville Hecht-Goose-Grier (as a shutdown line) Kaleta-Ellis-Mair (the energy line) Torres could be a beast in the playoffs and he chipped in 19 goals with CBJ, so you know he can put the puck in the net. Maybe he just needs to play with better talent than he's been paired with and Roy/Vanek would definitely provide that. It's just a thought. I don't envy Lindy's position in making this decision at all, especially if he gambles and is dead wrong. However, come playoff time, there haven't been many coaches better than him as far as game-planning goes.

Career-wise, Miller has a better winning % (.600) than a lot of top tier goalies. Kiprusoff=.375 Backstrom=.393 Nabokov=.447 Luongo=.475 Last night, the shooters failed him. When Pommer throws a weak wrister into Quicks' pad, instead putting the pressure on with a goal to take a 2-1 lead, it makes the next save even tougher for him. Then Connolly has a major fail when the puck doesn't come up off his stick after a great move and we end up losing.

First off, Steve Tambellini is the GM in Edmonton and he won't be trading Penner either. Next, Boyes, a potential 70 point scorer won't be going anywhere either, especially not for a (just) 2nd rounder. Just because they're in 13th place doesn't mean they'll be selling the farm. I wouldn't mind seeing Lydman, Macarthur, Mancari and Stafford sent somewhere, instead of picks. We've got Ennis and Gerbe to fill some of those holes, but I don't know how much you want to alter your lineup (losing 3 starters) for 1 big goal scorer. Lastly, as the Sabres pour 10 goals in 3 periods against 2 quality goalies, is there really a problem with the offense?

I'm not sure why people are saying they started this game out poorly. The shots we 8-1 Sabres after 5 minutes and if I remember correctly, 4 of those were good scoring chances. Unfortunately, Miller lost control of a rebound and, as goal scorers do, Tavares followed up and chipped it home. That turned the momentum of the game until Buffalo scored their 1st goal. After that, the Sabres took the game back over and outshot the Isles 12-4 in the 3rd. As for those people talking about Miller playing terrible in a shootout, my question is, have you ever played goalie in a shootout? It's not easy. I play in high level adult league with players that have played D-1 hockey and I've been in shootouts where I've stopped all the shooters, including one that went 13 rounds and I've been in shootouts where I've surrendered 3 goals on 3 shots. My career record is 18-7 (Miller is 27-17) and my save % in the shootouts in .740, which is above average (if I were in the NHL) (Miller is .718), (http://www.nhlshootouts.com/ShootoutStats.htm) I'm certainly not making a case that I'm better than Miller (or any other pro goalie, not just NHL), I'm just saying that until you've been in one, don't judge. Also, someone mentioned that often times, the shooters have been in position to win, but haven't scored, so a lot of this falls on them. I'm of the opinion that if you steal a point like they did last night, don't complain. When the Sabres are in the playoffs, coming back to tie it up in the third gives them a chance to win in OT, and then the fans won't have to worry about all these shootout stats. Stealing a point keeps some momentum going, regardless of their sloppy play. If they can clean some of that up and play like they have against the elite teams, Chicago, Washington, Calgary, etc...they'll be plenty dangerous come April, May and hopefully, June as well. Lastly, obviously sarcasm is lost on some people because it is very clear that Ken E was not being serious.

SabresFaninNJ: from what I remember reading, DirecTV doesn't have the rights to MSG HD broadcasts, thus none of their programming can be received in HD. I believe the article also said there had been talks and it will happen in the future, but they didn't say when. It is VERY frustrating that I can't see the Sabres in HD or on Versus through DirecTV, but they've been so much better than Comcrap for other things (and less expensive), here in Houston, it's been worth it. As for Center Ice in HD being an "extra" that is not true. I haven't paid anything extra for the other HD games I watch on a regular basis. If you want the NFL in HD, that is an extra service. Hope that helps :) Additionally, I'm fine watching the Sabres in SD in the 1st period, since they look so terrible anyway, but it would be nice to see the comebacks in HD :)

GmR, where's Sekera? Oduya & Zanon would be fantastic additions, if you could move Lydman, Tallinder & Paetsch, while not resigning Teppo & Spacek. This would leave you with Sekera & Weber, Oduya & Zanon, Butler & Rivet, & Myers. That defense is too good to be true. I'll hope for either Oduya or Zanon and be (mildly) disappointed when they resign Spacek.

Sorry, after rereading my post, it should have said that Detroit hasn't had a 1st round pick play in the NHL since their 2000 pick. Apologies.
Actually Ed, the Red Wings haven't had a 1st round draft pick since 2000. Franzen? 2004-3rd round. Hudler? 2002-2nd round. Filppula? 2002-3rd round. Kronwall in 2000 was their last 1st round pick. But the better point is that they picked up Datsyuk in 1998 in the 6th round and Zetterberg with the 210th pick in the 7th round of 1999. If you'd like to go back to 1996, they picked Jesse Wallin (who?), who played 49 total games for them, collecting...wait for it...2 points in the NHL. Drafting in the NHL is a crapshoot. BTW, that took me 5 minutes to look up.
