And as promised here's what I received in the Alice in Wonderland swap. My partner was Becca from Becca Boop. She had wrapped up five packages each carefully labelled. "Eat me", "See me," "Use me", "Wear me" and "Drink me". Of course I opened the "Eat Me" first and found five hand-made jam tarts. Surprisingly they had survived the journey through the post. But they didn't survive the day! We scoffed them down for supper and I can report they were very delicious indeed. The "Drink Me" contained two cute tins of unusual tea bags. Back in December I signed up for the Alice in Wonderland Swap arranged by Apryl over on Meridian Ariel. After much agonising I decided on what to make for the package. I started out making some checkered beads which you can see here waiting for the varnish to dry. I'm sure those with more know how about polymer clay probably have more high tech ways of doing this, but the orange and cocktail stick method seemed to work alright for me! A departure from crafting and decluttering today. A friend of mine alerted me to this post on Captain Ahab's Watery Tales - Aldborough Mill, Norfolk. I walk my dog around the back of the mill nearly every morning and it's nice to see a bit of local history has hit the worldwide web. In fact one of my friends now lives in the converted mill which does have a lot of the original features intact. Ahab makes it sound a bit of a brutal conversion, but it isn't. True there's no waterwheel, no jolly miller and no smell of flour.... Continue »
