Excuse me but the gay community begs to differ! Professor Wilson was not involved with the negotiations between gay rights groups, the LDS Church, and the legislature over the the extremely weak, exemption ridder bill. She was, however, the architect of a "religious freedom" bill that created even more exemptions, including for county clerks who can opt out of serving gay applicants. This bill was sprung on gay activists at the last minute and was dirty politics at its worst. While Professor Wilson claims to be in favor of gay rights, her academic and political activities have been focused almost exclusively on advocating for maximalist "religous" exemptions that affect no other minority group. The gay community certainly does not view her as an ally.
