definitely agree the sox finally have a power threat in the middle of the lineup that we missed last year without bay and the decline of ortiz. with gonzalez locking that up and another lefty in the lineup francona has planty of room to move around the lineup especially if someone is struggling...remember beltre started the season down around 7 or 8 and finished in the 3-5 far as the bullpen i dont know if jenks has the stuff he used to but definitely a good acquisition also what do you think willl happen if pap starts to struggle again????

did you see the sox game last night? i was vbery encouraged by papelbon's outing as he looked like his old self with a 1-2-3 inning save......his splitter was great and his fastball has seemed to have more velocity as of late up to 97+

i think this would be great for the sox and really help them on the offensive end, but what worries me more is the bullpen. wakefield is too inconsistent to be a reliable reliever as i would not trust him to come in for an inning and not let up a run in a close game. also i feel the same way about delcarmen. just the other day against texas he comes in to relieve dice-k with two men on and gives up a homer on the first pitch. he is a solid reliever but not the setup guy we would need with bard as the closer and no pap. oky is getting old and is not as effective as batters are figuring out his stuff the more he plays in the league...doubront will be a great reliever and could be the setup guy but not next year. for now he is a solid lefty reliever that has a lot of promise....finally bowden i feel the same way about that he has potential but cant be that setup guy just yet..also i could see him becoming another delcarmen type pitcher...basically your plan addresses our hitting needs but we still need a strond setup man that is in his prime and could take over the closer role if bard chokes

part of the reason for his bad numbers is his erratic playing time, but ur right and we really dont need him especially with interleague play coming up and no dh. This was really shown when beltre sat out and he still didn't play third a few nights ago....he could probably go to another team as hes only 36 but i dont no how much they could get in a trade especially with the physical stuff....hes a fan favorite so its tough to see him on the bench, but ur right hes a class act and hasnt complained

he does sound like a solid player but its tough to tell from baseball for outfield being a glaring need i would rather say that just a pure power threat is what we really need cuz ortiz will be done in a year or two and nobody else is going to hit 40 homers a year which is what we need in the middle of the lineup....maybe getting carlos lee or quentin would be the right move - an underperforming hitter that might benefit from the wall at fenway to hit more doubles and such

ya i agree with sully to a point (brett gardner???) but its true that ellsbury is just moping around cuz the sox got it seems like he's playing his injury out and just being a baby....the fact is he has to realize that he is not indispensible - in 2 or 3 years a guy like fuentes or someone else will be good enough out of the farm system to take his place - so he is an amazing player but he just has to go out and play and not worry whether he is in center or left although there is no question he should be in center and cameron in left
