Honey, who shrunk the Satellit 700?!
In the original NPR Car Talk story it was mentioned that the reason for the re-runs is that Tom and Ray are retiring, after something like 3000 episodes! The producers plan to rearrange the car questions/answers from different shows and recombine them. This will give a semblance of variety. I guess you can't blame two successful radio show hosts for retiring.

There's a whole series of similar Sony radios like the SRF-T615. some of the models are Sony SRF-R431, SRF-R600V, SRF-R633V, and SRF-R433. They can be purchased through www.jauce.com (Japan Auction Center). It is an Ebay-like site, but Jauce purchases the item for you for a fee, and ships it from Japan to you.
Bigapple59 is a super Ebay seller and radio hobbyist. I've sold him a radio and some radio books he's kept for his own use; the susequent email exchanges have been interesting and pleasant. I recommend adding him to your "Favorite Sellers" list on Ebay. He finds some very high quality used receivers, and researches and writes their descriptions with flair. I like to regularly check what he's offering, just to read his interesting auction copy and see the clear photos of nice rigs.
This is an excellent tip, Dan! I've used clay bars on my cars' finishes for years but never thought of trying it on radio cabinets. Another useful product for cleaning up grungy receivers is "Magic Eraser" pads from Mr. Clean. There are also generic versions of these in the stores and both seem to work identically. There are no abrasives or cleaning chemicals in the sponge-like pads, but like the clay bar treatment they lift out dirt and grime from surfaces. Be gentle when scrubbing though, because on some surfaces the Magic Erasers can very slightly change the shine or reflection from smooth surfaces. I think it is safer to use the pads on any finish that has a texture to it.
