Congratulations, and not at all surprising, you have one of the loveliest stores anywhere :]
A little press.
Last year Home Accents Today named Daisy's one of its 50 Retail Stars of 2010. This year they did a feature about Daisy's and I thought I would share it with you. Here is the link: Home Accents Today, Retail Profile. I haven't even touched the magazine yet. Since you know my love of magazines,...

known through friends
Today I'll share with you a film & a singer, but some of you may have already heard of or seen the film, and maybe some of you already know this singer. So forgive me if you already know both, but I'll share for those of you who are strangers to both. (or one of them) I've known each of them thr...
*love*! the fabrics you've chosen are gorgeous!
A New Jewelry Line and Giveaway!
So my lovelies, I launched my new pre-spring jewelry collection today with a brand new line of necklaces that I am very excited about! The first batch of necklaces are listed in the NEW section of my Etsy shop. This delightful collection is surprisingly lightweight and has a wonderfully soft lo...
I just love Maira Kalman, is that her new book?
My DSLR broke so I've been using my phone camera. it's an -- um -- interesting experience. i might just dig my old film cameras out...i miss having the control.
in my pocket
So these photos look pretty different than my usual, right? Well the other day I walked into my photo lab and was offered some kinda crazy deal. You know those scenes where the old timey snake charmer is trying to sell you some sort of wonder medicine? Yup, that happened to me on...
I know I was getting a workout making it ;]

I try to keep a sharpie handy so I can write the important stuff on my hand. no joke. it's the only thing that consistently works.
and I'm definitely pen and paper -- I have signed up for a million and one digital things but sooner or later I forget they exist. I've been using the Moleskine weekly large-size planner [the one that has the week on one side then a big note page across that I use to track of upcoming/rolling lists -- here http://www.moleskineus.com/mbl511wr-moleskine-2011-red-large-weekly-planner.html ] and it's been working pretty well for me now that I'm in the habit of using it [you know that adage about it taking 30 days to form a real habit].
http://pomodorotechnique.com is a pretty straightforward summation of a lot of organizational methods [big to-do list, smaller immediate list, and break it up so you don't burn out].
Standing in The Way of Control
"You fake 'em and you take 'em" - The Aggrolites, Jimmy Jack I asked a question to twitter yesterday: okay, I'm going to try Remember the Milk for task management again. What are you using for your To-Do lists? I was surprised that, at least amongst those who responded on twitter, old fashion...
We just saw this for the first time ever this spring and OH i finally get the whole Audrey Hepburn thing. really get it. she's so, so, so lovely.....
and I've always loved My Fair Lady. you'll get the craziest little snippets stuck in your head from that one.
Miss Modish Muse: Roman Holiday
We watched Roman Holiday (1953) last night starring Gregory Peck and beautiful Audrey Hepburn in her first major Hollywood movie, and let me just say, I thought it was faaaaantastic! It's so funny and charming and Audrey, oh Audrey...she sure knows how to light up the screen. Her adorableness is...
What wonderful news, congratulations!
Pop! I'm engaged!
If I seemed at all distracted or busier than usual last week, it's because- I'm engaged! After 6 amazing years of growing together the mister popped the question, and I said yes! Miss Modish is going to a Mrs., by golly! We went engagement ring shopping together and fo...

You make some fine-looking pancakes!
My daughter is the pancake chef around here and she had to work early, so I strolled down to our new corner deli for a half-caf americano and the most delicious almond croissant.
Monday Morning Breakfast
I have a long, busy and semi-stressful week ahead of me so I wanted to make sure I started off right with a special breakfast. Instead of my usual instant oatmeal or smoothie, I went for pancakes, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Yummy! What's your favorite breakfast for a big week ...
What a handsome trio! what a wonderful birthday present :]
My Boys
My birthday wish ( which is actually next month) was to take some new photos of the boys, it had to be a birthday wish because they are not very fond of portrait taking ...so yesterday was perfect, they were all at home at the same time (very rare) and they even agreed to wear the same thing! am...
I don't know what those are but they look delicious!
here's to a lovely week for all of us :]
happy weekend
its been a great weekend. i had friends over, went on an impromptu trip, did a ton of baking, slept in, watched some movies and made some pretty things. here's hoping the week is just as lovely.
such pretty colors, this worked out so nicely :]
Good morning studio
I worked till very late last night and woke up to a very messy studio table... but then I noticed this lying there, It was as if I styled it , but I didn't! I had to snap a photo and share, a whole bunch of necklaces from the children collection ready to be finished and shipped lying on top ...
very sweet! happy birthday :]
birthday surprise...
i woke up this morning to a collection of pennants hung in our room... i'm a lucky girl!
I don't know about fire ants, but I use benadryl cream when I have mosquito bites. aloe vera is also good.
just thinking
Aren't these flowers gorgeous? I picked them last week from my Mom's garden with my niece Brianna and my little nephew, Noah. * * * * As you can imagine I had a lot of time to think about things while on our road trip. One of the things I was thinking about was this blog. I thought a lot a...
sounds like you're settling in already! thanks for the great line-up of guests while you were on the road, i really enjoyed their photo essays. looking forward to more of your photos :]
starting here
Hello. Well, here I am-starting at the end of our journey. Or is it the beginning? After seven days and 2400 miles we are no longer Portlanders, we are Austinites. I've got over 100 road trip photos to share but I felt like starting here with these...
That's so cute. I really like the vintage quality the photobooth gave you, it's funny how different ones have different personalities :]
photobooth friday
taken at amy's ice cream at 6th and lamar last friday. the machine was ancient and all wonky and had a handwritten sign inside that read, "be gentle, she's old than grandma." but she took pretty pictures. or maybe that's just ice cream bliss.
I am a little disappointed that this was not your Tracey Ullman workout :[

austin here we come!
Hello out there! Here are my first few shots of Austin, taken last week while we were house hunting. At the moment, we are in Portland finishing up last minute details and packing our moving truck. Thank you for all the kind comments and support lately-you guys are awesome! ...
those are so wonderful for summer! especially love the color.
shorts have been sewn
Okay, then! I made some shorts. These are sewn from the pants pattern in Simplicity 2570 which I widened a bit in the thigh. I realized it is much easier to find a shorts pattern I liked from pants/trouser patterns than actually looking for a shorts patterns—which are too casual or athletic fo...
so pretty! they look ike agapanthus.
I'm just starting to do my gardening for the year, we have had all your rain down here and it's been too miserable to get to it earlier, so I'd love to follow along with what you're doing, too, since I haven't been thinking about it much ;]
Happy Weekend!
Today is officially the last day of our renter history! One more load of random things + a little mopping, and we're outta the rental house for good! It feels awesome. Because our new house already feels so much like home. Even with projects undone and boxes unpacked, it feels like ours...
I am so glad we were able to see this in the theater -- it is one of the most stunning movies I've ever seen. And of course I cried!
My non-reading boyfriend was so moved that he bought a book of Keats poetry and reads it to me every now and again. I highly recommend doing so while lying in the grass somewhere, especially now that everything's all abloom.
Bright Star
We were super productive this weekend! Unpacking and working and home-ownering. In a rare moment of relaxation we watched the most beautiful, original movie I've seen in a long time- Bright Star. I got lost inside this movie. I haven't felt like that in a long long time. It's about ...
congratulations to you and your family!!! that is a VERY big project!
I know everything that's going on around you must be very stressful. When life is like that for me, I do try to keep in mind that everything will work itself out one way or another -- it always does! -- and that makes it easier to get through the tough times.
the cat's out of the bag
Hello dear friends! There are BIG changes up ahead. So much has happened in the past weeks, that I, myself, am still trying to grasp. I don't talk much about my personal life. For one, I just don't think I have such an entertaining life that people would be so interested on knowing and for two, ...
I wasn't really aware of them til I visited the rhododendron garden at Lake Merritt in Oakland a couple years ago. There were dozens of varieties and they were all in bloom -- it was a pretty impressive display. So I vote for like.
What is the blue ball [tee hee!] flower on the sticker? Those are just bizarre.

unofficial flower week: rhododendron
Ok, I'll admit it. I've never been a fan of rhododendron. To me, they were the flowers of institutions, schools- the dated specimen flourishing in cheesey subdivisions... They reminded me of the early 1980's, couldn't really tell you why-just something about them seemed...un...
