I prefer clean shaven men. Something about being a gentleman and well cared for. Plus, that is the way my husband is! Lately my son has grown various facial hair. I prefer him clean shaven, too!
Growing a Beard for Prostate Cancer Awareness?
Sacha shared his long beard growth for prostate cancer awareness month. He sent me a snap. At first I didn't know what was going on or why he was growing his beard so long... all I could think of was, "Why?" But was i was clued in I was the proud mama and had to share his furry face. ...
My sister and I have always ironed sheets (at least the top part) and pillowcases. It makes the bed so much more special. People have always laughed when they learn that about us. Glad to know we aren't alone! Enjoy the adventure of today.
All Went Well, Quilting Group and Brocante Winner Giveaway
The quilting group came for lunch. They were lovely. Though I only have this single photo to show for it, as my card reader decided to go on strike! Hopefully tomorrow I'll find a new card reader. I will share more photos then. Also Theresa and her husband David are spending a week with us (...
Always enjoy reading your blog. THIS one and the next, I read sitting in a Star Bucks. Couldn't help but laugh out loud! Thanks for the fun!
You Never Know What You Will Find
You never know what you will find when you are renovating an apartment in Paris. Our apartment is in a small building that has three apartments, and a butcher shop on the bottom floor. The building has been around for over two centuries. The only things that are left to remind us that it is o...
This sounds fabulous! Will look to see when fresh peas show up at Farmer's Market and try it out.
A Pea Green Soup to be Jealous About
Have you ever had pea soup? Green pea soup? Yumilious. French Husband and I went to see our friend Michel who has an organic fruit and vegetable stand in his fields. Whatever fruit or vegetable is in season and ripe, he picks in the wee hours and sells before noon. Fresh? It doesn't get any fr...
May the everlasting arms of Love surround your friend and those that love and care with comfort.
Holding On...Prayers Needed
One never knows the path that another is truly on. The other day a dear friend of ours tried to commit suicide. We are sad. The journey back to wellness will be a long one let alone a difficult one. Family, and friends love are ever near. We knew the path that our friend was on was off b...
Happy Birthday, Annie! Friendship such as you share with Corey is a pure delight! As many here, I feel grateful to share in your friendship through the blog. Enjoy your day and I wish you many blessings in the upcoming year. Fondly, Linda from Indiana
Annie
Today is Annie's Birthday. She is 93 years old! For those of you who read my blog you know that Annie is my dear friend who I have had the pleasure of knowing for over eighteen years. I thought it would be a wonderful way to celebrate her birthday by asking you to leave a birthday wish to Anni...
An anniversary of the heart. Blessings and comfort to you all.
A Family's Day of Remembrance
Four years ago today my Father passed away. Four years. Though the memories I have of him are living reminders that a love shared cannot be erased. My Godchild George (8) sent me an email late last night saying he missed Vo (my Father's name to his Grandchildren) and did I had any photos of...
We had the same cookie cutter growing up! Grandma was the baker in our family. Last night I made a batch of gingerbread to cut into turkeys, pineapples, acorns, and maple leaves this morning. Don't think I'd be welcome for Thanksgiving without them!
In the Kitchen with my Mom
In the kitchen with my mom means homemade food, one delicious delight after another. The grandchildren know that Monday mornings mean waffles with warm maple syrup. As many as you can eat. It also means cookies... last Monday my mim made, Chocolate chip, Turkey cut out cookies (one cookie fo...
How perfect to be with your family for Thanksgiving. Enjoy every moment!
Preparing for Thanksgiving
Black boots worn while walking on autumn leaves in the front yard of my mother's house. The days are crisp. The colors, a mixture of golden hues. Thanksgiving is in the air. It is good to be home. Every Monday my mother watches her grandchildren. In the evening she has a dinner for the entir...
Lots of favorite soups. One is a pumpkin that is quite a bit different. This afternoon I'm making a pot of chicken tortilla soup. I'll freeze some to take to my parents on Thanksgiving. This year Daddy is in the hospital and everything is different. The frozen soup can be pulled out later and a piece of me will be with them when they need it.
What to do with a Pumpkin?
Because my cousin Alma's daughter is going to be married today... Because I am unable to upload my photos, and video on my blog... Because I went shopping with my mother, leaving my feet somewhere between one shop and another, Because my nephew Joe has learned to play the drums, the tuba and th...
Hope you feel better enough soon to laugh without hurting!
Thoughts From The Sofa
Yesterday Lukie did his best to cheer me up. He made me laugh so hard it wasn't pretty. Laughing after surgery hurts. A lot. And then I couldn't stop. I told him my stomach felt like a bowl full of jelly. "LUCKY!" he replied. "YOU'RE LIKE SANTA!" Then Colin brought home a beautiful homemade dinn...
Agree with you, Cheryl! I'm still looking for a good man that will love me as much as my cats do!
Corey, I think you should pray to overcome your fear of dogs. Dogs (all animals) give their humans so much in the way of loving, laughing, and the simple acceptance of life.
Anyone who is interested in planning for a pet like Mr. Espresso is deserves points in my book!
Mr. Espresso and Chelsea
Mr. Espresso and Chelsea are still perking. Happily. Coffee and cream, hints of sugar. Since the beginning, Mr. Espresso and I have had a standing tease regarding points. Whenever he does something wonderful, or says something thoughtful, or acts in a way that is pleasing... I tell him, "Y...

What a fun post! Darling little creatures, weaving their way into your heart! The wedding dress is indeed lovely, even without the bride in it! An amazing day is soon to happen.
The Little Dogs & Their Veils
The Bride to be has two little dogs. They moved to France with her, plus a cat. The little dogs helped us make the wedding dress. Though not by sewing. The licked out feet, entertained us as we sewed and ate the crumbs that fell while we tasted cakes. I must admit I am slowly overcoming my fea...
Life certainly has a way of making itself difficult from time to time! Sorry to hear about your accident. I wish you a speedy recovery. Rest and take care of yourself as best you can. Look for the lemonade! Wish I could bring you a glass.
The Fall
Up on top of an old ladder, When the slow-motion reality struck, The ladder was doing the splits, I rode it down, fearing my tender ankle, Struck the cement floor with a million thoughts pouring through me, The loudest was the sound of my wrist. Pain is a sweet word for 'hurts like hell', Broken...
Beautiful symbolism. And an encouraging story for all of us!
The Key
Yesterday's comments regarding Bicycle Stories, were amazing. One memory after another: Banana seats, training wheels, brakes, skid marks, accidents, while noting where you learned to ride, the color of bike, who taught you and where you fell... I think the average age for learning how to ri...
Absolutely love this post!
Very synchronistic that several people posted
"This too shall pass." I thought of that before even I started reading. My meditation on Sunday focused on this very line. And not just thinking about the difficult things that we plow through from time to time. Think of it also as the good things, the good times. Those pass away too. Enjoy the moments while we're living them!
Wherever You Go, There You Are
Wherever you go, there you are. What is one of your favorite idioms, or phrases? I have to admit, that I have a few, though most of my favorite idioms are not necessarily ones I use on a daily base, or weekly for that matter. If I had to say my favorite idiom based on what I say the most...
Adorable story! Makes me remember the first time my son told me so and so had used the bad "s" word. Bracing myself, I heard it from his sweet mouth, "shut up." Enjoy your time and stories with the donut munchers!
The Story of the Very Bad Word
After Sacha's and Sam's graduation last night, there was a slumber party at my brother Mark's and his wife Diane's home. Well, not really a slumber party more of a crash and sleep. You see I went over to their house to write my blog. But that is hard to do with four adorable children talki...
I think a batch of my lavender-ginger butter cookies are calling your name!Seems to be raining everywhere this weekend.
Lavender Rain
One storm after another. Brocante withdrawals. Manageable due to the scent of lavender rain. Not really. Just trying to stir up romantic thought, this rainy day instead of making cookies and eating them all.
Lemons, pasta, Italy. Three of my favorite things! After your reference to the lemon pasta the other day, decided to make it for dinner one night this week. Tonight was it! Too bad I was on my own before you posted the recipe today. Amazingly close, I just added some basil and used penne. Used up the seed bread I made yesterday morning. Thanks for sharing your Italy pictures. How I long to return!
Lemon Pasta & Cinque Terre
Lemon scent mixed with jasmine, rose and sea breeze added another layer of intoxication to our stay in Cinque Terre. The crisp air hinted with perfume was the final straw of drunken pleasure in the land of simple raw beauty. (Photo of a lemon blossom.) If you are a "foodie" Cinque Terr...
Lovely post! What a lesson on tea. The drink I choose depends on my mood. Green tea in the morning, caffe latte in the afternoon or visiting with friends, nothing soothes my soul like a cup of chai, herbal tea at night to ease me into sweet dreams. How grateful I am that we are able to share in your treasured time with Chelsea in China.
The Art of Tea
When drinking tea in China sugar and milk are not added. Putting milk in your tea is on the same page as putting ice in your beer, or chocolate syrup on your mashed potatoes. Though the Chinese make many tasty desserts using red bean puree. Using red beans as a dessert, reminds me of my mo...
Please! A photo of Stinky Cat! My imagination runs wild with how you would chose to set that photo up! In a good way . . . I am a cat lover but realize that my little darlings can drive others absolutely mad!
Of course, the list of your favorites would be a favorite for all of us.
Where to go Antiquing in France
1. Where to go antiquing in France? If only I had a dime for everytime someone asked me that question! There is a site on the internet that I use to find out about antique fairs in France. It is in French, so I thought today I would break it down for you. Most French antique fairs happen on Satu...
Heartfelt post and comments. Dream visits are most beautiful. I've had them from a long lost love. Actually, today makes 35 years.
Simple comments from my son are the best compliments. He's 18 now, and our humble home is the gathering spot for his friends. As he returned from taking one of his friends home last night during an ice storm, he said he was glad he was coming home to me, that he has the mom he has and not someone else. Melted the ice on my doorstep!
Tender Happiness
I spoke with Sacha yesterday, he is nine hours behind us. He told me that he is going to be the school mascot. And that he went to the Winter Ball. I asked him, was there anything I could send him? He replied, "Yeah, could you stuff our home and village in a box, and send it to me? And ...
I'm tempted to print the picture, put it in a gold frame alongside a vase with pink carnations next to my bed. Perhaps as a beacon that someone will never forget me someday. Romance abides when we look for it. Thanks as ever, Corey, for sharing.
Three Men at Lunch
The town of Cassis, I have written about it many times on my blog, is a little pearl of a town. Situated between Marseille and St. Tropez, on the Mediterranean sea. Unlike Marseille it is small and quaint. Unlike St. Tropez it is not ultra chic. It is simply a pearl for whoever ventures do...
1. Nearly cross-eyed working so hard on a report for my principal in the morning.
2. At least I have a good cup of chai to keep me company.
3. Wondering why my 18 year old son stays up late whenever I do.
4. Love working on creative projects. Mixed media and sewing are two things keeping me inspired lately.
5. How would I survive without yoga?
6. Love to cook, but hate the mess I make.
7. Walking in the winter makes me feel so completely alive.
8. Thankful for your posts, Corey, and the wonderful responses.

1) French Husband went to the grocery store... I can count the times he has gone to the grocery store on one hand. He took a pink shopping bag. 2) My friend Mary is coming over to visit, but first she invited me to spend a few days with her here... 3) Meanwhile, French Husband is g...
