Heck, They could not even get the census numbers right! Every since Honeywell pre-announced it has been a bull free for all. I feel like a clown on a tightwire. It could go either way.

Nice Chart! Certainly something we have all talked about for a while. Problem is if we hit the bottom trendline we are still not making a profit :-( Also, regarding the SMH, the divergence has existed for a while. Scary part is that the companies are blowing away their numbers and will again next quarter. So we have to rely on the peverse nature of the market to take us to the promised land!

Hey Mon. In SF for PO so I have my handsful with my fam. Poco's chart was very clever. Look at the second posting where I asked him to post the 2000 high. Not so good. I could have missed something as I have be harried lately. Maybe we should create a common repository where we can all upload the articles posted etc. that state our case. When we are feeling down, we can look there for inspiration. :-)

Good Morning! Nice to start of the day with a smile. That video was priceless. Gotta love the analysis "if this doesn't work then this. Well wait, that doesn't look as good so let me change it again" Lets make it easy. Put up an moving average over the same time frame and change the parameters until it hugs the lows. Put up a Stoch and change the paramenter until the cyclical peaks align. Same with RSI. Pick some more while you are at it. Wow they all point to some arbitrary number. Who cares? It means NOTHING! I should not be so emotional at 6 in the morning but I really get annoyed at this kind of analysis because there are so many out there that don't understand. Not looking to spark a debate here. Read Colby's tomb on Technical Analysis. He takes all the popular indicators and backtests them using different parameters. Also gives a nice discussion of curve fitting, which is exactly what is going on here. Or Bollinger's work where he explains colinearity. One more thing, every trader should print this out in large bold font and paste it over their monitor. As I have said before CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION!!! As Serge mentioned yesterday and I have stated many times before, we can not continue at this rate, the compounding effect would be astronomical. Off to the gym!

Hi there! True, but they pale in comparison to what is demonstrated in the book. Namely, the ability to back test and optimize. Have a great evening! Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

The best by far is authored by Jeremy du Plesis. The Definitive Guide to Point and Figure Charting. It is a seminal work. The Complete Guide to Point and Figure Charting. Weber and Zieg. My Second choice. You really need the software that Jeremy uses to implement what he professes. It is expensive and leased if memory serves. I think it is called UpData. Might not be expensive for you professionals out there in Web Land!

I have a love hate relationship with P & F charts. If there are any fans out there, I can recommend a good book or two.

Have not posted this in a while.... http://www.screencast.com/users/has001u/folders/Jing/media/2b41a475-fe62-4b02-9cf1-0739df2c9228 Question for Doug, Mon, Duuuuude, etc. Why do you suppose that Friday's employment release is getting so much hype. I mean, all they all do, but this started last week. How positive does it have to be before it turns into a negative. Markets are closed here which leaves interesting options for those wanting to hedge their bets. Maybe some currency action? It is a given that the Census uptick is temporary, so what gives?

Not everyone! Although I have focused on the QQQQ's :-) Been consistently bearish for too long! I admit that I was waaay to early. And I am taking note! Keeping a log of what I did wrong; its a long list :-) However, when reviewing the weekly charts and it is obvious to me that we are going down! I just looked at the 10 and 5 year Treasury charts. Oh brother!

Anybody else have a problem with JING today. Just sits and idles. Will not upload. Anyway, take a look at the VXN. NICE. Also interesting hourly chart. I am finding the hourly charts to be very useful even though to me it is counterintuitive. We are slamming against the open. So, can we have a raise of hands? How many think we push on thru and how many think we head lower?

Mr D, The market has been going up on downward revisions, less bad numbers then on numbers that look better but they change the accounting. The other day was a great example. They changed the seasonality adjustment factor to make the numbers look better but who noticed? Its all a scam. The piper will be paid!

You certainly have an artistic bent! Great Chart! On the fundamental side I awoke to this: Oops they did it again! Mortgage Re-Fi’s Defaulting More than 50% of U.S. borrowers who received loan modifications on delinquent mortgages defaulted again after nine months according to a joint report from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision. The number of homes with mortgage payments at least 60 days late climbed 2.39 million in the fourth quarter, up 13.1 percent from the prior three months and 49.6 percent from the year earlier period, the quarterly Mortgage Metrics report said.
