yes, a certain degree of chafage is to be expected when embarking on nude cycling - not for the clever lady in front of me who had lined her saddle with faux fur - very decadent! As for the knickers - I didn't use a pattern, I just followed loosely a pair that I already had, cutting out more rather that less and perfecting the shape afterwards. It wasn't as hard as I had thought it'd be. Next time I will try and design a pattern that can be re-used and I'll have a go at posting it if it would help anyone. Thanks for the encouragement!

I see where you are coming from too - I build cob houses for a living and have been taking many steps towards becoming more sustainable not because is a watch word but because I think we rob ourselves of so much pleasure and creativity paying other people to do thinngs for us. Also am starting out on an allotment planting veggies and scouring charity shops for lovely things not ready to give up on life! Good luck with your projects. I love the hat Harriet xxxxxxx

very pretty! I am a dunce at knitting and very impressed by those who do. PS. You commented on my spring dress post and I couldn't figure out how to reply but in answer to your question, i use a very haphazard and unhelpful approach of pinning and tucking and folding until things look nice-ish. If you buy a bigger dress for the fabric, I recommend just putting it on and pulling it, fiddling with it until it looks good. It will give you a good idea of the sort of thing you might like to do with it. Sorry if that is not helpful - I will try and be more specific next time. Anything that buttons up is easier as you are effectively dealing with one large piece of fabric that is easier to manipulate that something already fitted to a certain shape and size. Keep posting! Harriet x

welcome to london my friend! I live out in Walthamstow. Not far from you at all. If I can lend you a hand (in the way of sharing my fabric hang-outs - mostly charity shops) or a machine to sew on, then let me know. Drop me a line at harrietsandilands@yahoo.com I also write (but not about shopping). Love the curtains! Harriet x
