I stopped supporting them when they shamed themselves with their treatment of Gita Sahgal. Looks like empty headed multiculturalism invaded this organisation, long, long ago.
Don’t sit on the fence — Chris Morris
I used to give 10% of my annual income to Amnesty International. It was their dossier on Robert Mugabe that persuaded me to risk my own life in 2003 when, with three friends, I confronted Mugabe in London and called for him to be arrested under the United Nations Convention on Torture – an act t...
I went to a CofE boarding school, the Christian ethos was exactly what I required when I was a kid. I was still able to be a practising Muslim, but being within a compassionate Christian atmosphere made the whole experience more enjoyable.
Good luck getting normal state schools to teach Christianity (or indeed any religion) effectively, much rests on the knowledge of the teacher. At my brother's school, RE was taught by the PE teacher ordering kids to copy out of a textbook.
There should be a Christian ethos in every state school, school assemblies should have prayers and hymns and religious holiday's should be explored. It's not imposing religion, it's bring principles back into the classroom.
Teaching children about Christianity should be a central part of British education - not marginalised, as Ofsted reports is happening currently
Ofsted has reported this week that schools are failing to teach pupils about Christian beliefs in their RE lessons. When Christianity is taught, Christ's parables are used to explore pupils' "personal feelings and principles, but ignore any religious significance they may have." The number of...
Is the vote conducted by secret ballot?
Is Cameron's '22 move a ploy to swing its election next week?
There's a famous legend that the first three people who speak at the weekly 1922 Committee meeting are mad. I went to these gatherings fairly regularly during my eight years in the Commons. I wouldn't like to report whether that hoary old tale is true. But there's no doubt that recent Conserv...
One has to wonder if we'd be treated to such generous pledges if the Tories had won an out-right majority?
Nick Clegg's extraordinary pledges on civil liberties
In a remarkable speech this morning (still going as I write) Nick Clegg has set out the fundamental first steps of the great repeals this new Government intends to bring about, with a pledge to bring "an end to spying on people:" ID cards out Biometric passports stopped No e-mail control wit...
BREAKING NEWS: Anti-Semitism finds its way to the forefront of the election
Today as the nation goes to the polling stations to determine the future government of this country. There are some people out there who are determined to scare the electorate and spread hatred amongst citizens. There is no worse, depraved... Continue reading

The South Park episode was top-notch. We must not let a few loud-mouths censor the freedom to express opinions on religion. Although, I'm worried about the safety of the producers of the show ..
Today's freedom news
Image via Wikipedia South Park lose another fan Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, have once again caused controversy. Their lasted episode depicted the prophet Mohammed, causing outrage amongst sections of the radically Islamic community. "A posting on a New York-based w...
The irony of it is that he's quite convincing when he LOOKS DIRECTLY AT THE CAMERA.
David Cameron speaks directly to the British people in new election broadcast
The public hate brown and the posters shows his failings. Simple and it works. Good job.
Tories launch anti-Brown posters
24 hours ago the party launched a second round of its 'I've never voted Tory before...' posters but the party has gone negative tonight. The first fruits of CCHQ's new relationship with M&C Saatchi can be seen with the launch of a poster campaign targeting Brown's record. There are seven ads in ...
Hear, hear! As a YBF Grad myself, I can only commend the great work that YBF does. The left have The Fabians (yuck), pretty much every University student union in this country that indoctrinate young people into the left. But YBF is there to promote conservative principles and help empower young people into leadership - nothing wrong with that at all.
In defence of YBF - Young, British, Freedom-fighters
Image by Getty Images via Daylife Last Wednesday, I was fortunate enough to attend a superb event organised by Donal Blaney and Steven Dent in the House of Commons. The Young Britons' Foundation (YBF) Parliamentary Rally was an outstandingly enjoyable and informative occasion, in which a serie...
Good to see some American's still value freedom. Obama's 'softly-softly' approach will do little to curb Iranian ambitions to go nuclear and economic sanctions are useless on a rogue state like Iran. The only language the Iranian's understand is that of force, it looks like some sort of tactical strike on their nuclear plants looks like a real possibility.
US Senate moves to bolster freedom in Iran
Image via Wikipedia Republicans in the United States Congress have become increasingly restive about the Obama Administration’s lack of leadership on supporting opposition forces that seek to advance freedom and human rights in Iran. Senators John Cornyn and Sam Brownback have sought to make u...
The ticking time-bomb you describe hasn't happened yet. In that case, if you had to sacrifice one life for the betterment of a thousand. Then yes, moral absolutism aside, to torture that person, I guess, would be permissible.
Until then however, I'm against it.
The Telegraph's Con Coughlin is a disgrace
In his piece published on the Telegraph Blog today, When the next bomb goes off in London, blame the judges, Con Coughlin has, to my mind, produced the most crass and unpleasant piece of demagoguery hosted by the modern broadsheet press (though you should feel free to make your own nominations...
Laveen, the judges called the treatment 'cruel, degrading and inhuman' - surely what other definition would you want?
If you agree to what the American's did then why stop there? Shall we bring back the rack? Foot-whipping? Knee-capping? Why stop there?
No. When you indulge in acts of torture you not only break International Law but you make a statement which is much worse to the enemy. You tell your enemy that whatever deprivations they are capable of, you'll happily match them. Simple moral codes are the hallmark of a civilised society.

Hear, Hear!
A Conservative government can leave Conservative-hating quangocrats in place, drawing out the pain, or it can institute a night of the long knives
This is a true story. A friend of mine recently met a Labour-appointed and Labour-supporting Quangocrat. “Is the Government asking you to make cuts in your budget,” asked my friend, “and if so, what are you doing?” “It's very difficult,” the Quangocrat replied. “Obviously, we don't want to make...
Excellent article and your point is well made. I'm shocked at the crassness of Con Coughlin's words. Does he even know what freedom means? Torture of any kind is not the business of a civilised state to indulge in, it makes us no better than the enemy and acts as a great recruitment tool to those who's hearts and minds we are trying to win over. Coughlin should stop getting ideas from Jack Bauer and start living up to the ideals of a liberal democracy.

Super news. A Tory Muslim MP is a long time coming.
Sajid Javid selected for Bromsgrove
I am delighted to report that my very good friend Sajid Javid has been selected for Bromsgrove. We've been friends since I was Exeter University with him, David Burrowes MP and Robert Halfon (1988 to 1991). Saj and I ran the Exeter Enterprise Forum together - a campaign group that attempted to...
Quite right Tim. It also bothers me when people say that Blair/Bush did not go through the UN with Iraq. Yes they did, in fact they went along with the UN more than they needed too. Saddam Hussain had defied every UN resolution put to him, why was he going to listen to an institution as feeble as the UN? Dictators understand one thing, and that's force.
I don't care about international law
From PoliticsHome: "Sir Malcolm Rifkind said that today’s evidence to the Iraq inquiry from Sir Michael Wood [chief legal adviser to the Foreign Office between 2001 and 2006] showed that Jack Straw had shown a disregard for the legality of law. Jack Straw rejected advice from Sir Michael in e...
