I love this restaurant! I have been craving it like a pregnant woman craves pickles and ice cream! Curry has got to be one of my most favorite foods in the entire world! If you are looking to find good curry in Utah; this is the place, (no pun intended)! The Massaman and Yellow Curry are among my favorite dishes along with the Chicken Satay. The cucumber sauce is to die for! Best of all this is a locally owned and operated restaurant located in the Avenues of Salt Lake City. So while I eat I am stimulating the Utah... Continue reading

I love that the boy names the female bird KEVIN and continues to call her that even after he figures out she is a girl!

"Carl Fredricksen, a shy and quiet young boy, meets an energetic and outgoing bucktoothed barefooted tomboy named Ellie, discovering they share the same interest in exploration as their hero, the then 24-year-old famed explorer Charles F. Muntz. Ellie expresses her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls in South America, a promise she makes Carl keep. Carl and Ellie wed and grow old together in the old house where they first met while making a living as a toy balloon vendor and a zookeeper respectively. Unable to have children, they also try to save up for the trip to... Continue reading

Friends are relatives you make for yourself. ~Eustache Deschamps When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our... I took this the other day while doing a final walk through of our soon to be new home. I was standing in the bathroom trying to envision color schemes and I liked the idea of walking through a new door and looking in the mirror. That is exactly what I am doing. A new door is about to open and it has caused me to pause and reflect on what I would like life to be like. Anyways. I just like the photo, I thought I would share so enjoy. Continue reading

I love Pottery Barn. Always have, Always will... Nick and I are so excited because now we are able to buy a few pieces of furniture to go with the house. Not that we are going to completely furnish the home all brand new or anything, but there are things that we have never bought that we are excited we can now purchase. Like our bed, the kids bunk bed, bedside tables, etc... Here are few of our picks! Master Bedroom Bed (not sheets in pic) This chest on each side for night tables I love these sheets... but I... -- 10/16 update: We have reason to believe he & his mom are in Minnesota. -- After talking with Gibson's therapist, my brother called the Draper City police (who happen to be MUCH more helpful than the Salt Lake police) and after looking up her past info, they have agreed to do an Amber Alert. They called Jessica's cell and she did answer and pulled her usual shenanigans of cussing them out, telling them she is Gibson's mom and has the right to do anything she wants with him. She wouldn't tell them where she was, and they didn't get... Continue reading

I just read this article that was relaid to me through a cousin's husband. I have family in Potomac where this article takes place. As I read I could not help but be moved to tears. I wish my husband's parents felt this way. They view me as a hypocrite because I have not always appreciated my church background, (of which I am truly sorry and I gone to my Lord and Savior to take care of). They are upset their son has become LDS. As of now we are no longer in communication which has honestly been much easier... Continue reading

I took this picture over the weekend and it has turned out to be one of my new favorites. Lately I notice myself taking a closer more personal look at my surroundings in nature. Maybe it is because I think the detail are beautiful and as I look as little closer I find beauty all around me, (even in a muddy horse pasture like in this case), or maybe it is because I can see nature more abstractly than I can people and in that I can get lost. Either way it brings me peace I love so much. Thanks... Continue reading

Why do people hate? Hate is a choice so when reflecting on this question, I wonder why someone would choose to hate. I am sure there are plenty of arguably justifiable reasons; but in the end, I want to know why someone would choose to carry such a burdensome emotion around with them. Often we blame others or events for the hatred we feel when really it was our choice. Why is it so hard to look at one’s self as the problem instead of looking outwardly? When we hate somebody or an event, or something… and I am talking... Continue reading

His bio mom (my brother's ex) took him for a visitation and hasn't brought him back. The police won't/can't do anything at this point. It's just custodial interference at this point because she had the right to the visitation. He is in danger. But trying to convince the police of this is seemingly impossible. They won't issue an amber alert, because they don't believe he is in danger. This woman, Jessica Smith, has threatened to kill herself and my nephew in the past. She just got evicted, started a new job, and had all her possessions in her car when she picked up Gibson for the visit last weekend. So we have no where to look for him. All we have is her vehicle description. She normally resides in or around Draper/Salt Lake City, UT, but has family in St. Paul/Minneapolis Minnesota and may be driving there. Continue reading

I have long loved old keys so when I saw these at Tiffany&Co. I was ecstatic! I love the classic look of Tiffany's. And I ask you... what girl can turn down anything that comes in that blue box? I am a in love with anything Elsa Peretti and swoon over Paloma Picasso. How fantastic would it be to say you owned something that Picasso's daughter designed for Tiffany&Co.? (So Nick... God knows you personally and loves you more than you can comprehend. He wants you to be happy now and always. To accomplish this purpose, Heavenly Father has provided a plan called the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God; His teachings are the way to peace in life and joy for eternity. As part of His plan, God has followed a simple pattern from the beginning of the world. He chooses a prophet (like Noah or Moses) to teach the gospel and lead the people. Sadly, most of God’s children have disregarded, disobeyed, and rejected... Continue reading

The Master Speed- No speed of wind or water rushing by But you have speed far greater. You can climb Back up a stream of radiance to the sky, And back through history up the stream of time. And you were given this swiftness, not for haste, Nor chiefly that you may go where you will, But in the rush of everything to waste, That you may have the power of standing still- Off any still or moving thing you say. Two such as you with such a master speed Cannot be parted nor be swept away From one another... Continue reading

My husband, two children and I have moved to my Grandfather Barlow’s home this last week. The home we are building will not be ready until mid- November but, the home we were renting is being put on the market, so we needed to leave by the end of September. I love being in my Grandpa’s home. It’s probably because most of my childhood memories of my Grandparents, (my Grandmother now being decease 7 years tomorrow), revolve around this home. One of my favorite memories, not really a specific one, but one that would occur again and again, is my... Continue reading

was recently able to attend a statue dedication in honor of one of my ancestors, Israel Barlow. While attending this dedication at the, This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, I was able to take a few photos. I found the following from http://www.geocities.com/richardwinmill/Israel_Barlow.htm: My pictures are below the history. We found this biography in the book “The Life Story of Truman Heap Barlow including his forbearers, immediate kinfolk and posterity.” Printed by Kimber C. Barlow in 1961. Compiled and edited by Leo J. Muir. The Original copy of this book is available in the University of... Continue reading
