oh geez.. I've had too many bad managers cut my hours to try to get me to quit.. but I always fought back cos that's just a dick move. Some "managers" need to learn how to manage. lol.

Corporate had us put up a mandatory "date night" end stand with KY, condoms, make up & mouthwash. If you stop in your local hellgreens you'll see.. it's quite funny actually..... and we had a sidepanel next to it of handcuffs hahahaha

Eh I can totally understand your frustration but there's always three sides to the story. But I don't eat junk food often but the few times I've been to the Wendy's by me.. well the first two times I remember it being okay... but the 3rd time I was shorted 2 fries, a burger and they gave me the wrong beverage. I just asked for a manager & had him give me a refund, took my money & went elsewhere. Plus, he wasn't very friendly about me being upset for being charged for food I didn't receive. SMH

That's my #1 pet peeve. Like when I'm off the lock on my lunch, outside by the back, smoking a cig & some asshat walking in stops me to ask me stuff. piss off!!!!!! Thankfully I don't work in my hometown - but I used to about 7 yrs ago - and if I go in that store to pick up a few things people still think I do - when I'm in jeans and a tshirt SMH My fav response to when I'm actually on clock & get asked, "Do you work here?" is "SOMETIMES." most people ignore it or laugh but once a girl looked me and seriously asked, "Is one of those times right now?" So I said no and walked away LOL

There's always going to be someone better than you & someone worse then whom you thought was the worst person. It's a vicious cycle & it'll never stop. But document everything he does, get with your co worker & write everything down. If he's disappearing time him & ask him where he went & what he was doing for XX minutes. What I do when I document my bad employees is just grab a piece of blank paper - on the top I write the date & employee's name & title and then make a time line, for example: Dec. 2nd 2012 Employee: FNG, cashier 6pm: disappeared for 25 minutes, reappeared at 6:25pm. (insert verbatim of what employee said when asked why they were gone for XX min) 7:15pm: etc etc etc It's helpful because without written documentation your boss has nothing to go by - and if he's really disappearing ask your supervisors/managers to keep an eye on him.

It's Hellgreens water. I can identify that shelving, mylars & signage anywhere. And yes, it's what probably keeps it's employees sane except in my state we're legally not allowed to sell alcohol so no liquor dept/dept of sanity for this slave :(

Yeah, as a female - this bitch deserved it. Yeah they were drunk, loud, annoying but no one forced her to stay in the train car - at least most trains/subways here in nyc have a way of passing between cars so you can leave the car if someone annoys you or is weird. smh

lmfao y'all crack me up! We're in New Jersey.. and of course Hellgreens doesn't like to let managers work near the town they live in so I live about 45 min from my store otherwise I'd totally have my friends come in & drive them out. lol What stinks is there always isn't a camera nearby but I've come up with a small plan: next time I see them in my store I'll just follow them around, when they get in a customer's face I'll just call them out on it.. when they try to take pictures of me then I'll "accidently" knock the disposable camera out of their hands & "accidently step on it hard" lol. I'll just keep asking if they need help & if they ask why I'm following them I'll sweetly reply the magical words "Because my employees cannot stand you & as their manager I need to watch out for the safety & sanity of my workers & customers that you two do not show the slightest respect to."

I seriously wish I could ban her. I even had to hide in the office and pharmacy! My employees & I explained to my boss how she acts but since there's no hard evidence there isn't much we can do - though everyone except my one beauty advisor refuses to help her LOL. The beauty advisor has known her for years though, as a customer, so she can tolerate her craziness. As far as the movie thing - I'm big about honesty & fairness. I don't lie nor bullshit customers over matters like this.. we even showed her how our circular states it will be available starting Tuesday & when she didn't comprehend why should couldn't buy it two days in advance I just let her cry. The photo thing I've sort of gotten under control - since she develops her pictures in our photo lab I've made it the "law of the land" with my staff that when she develops pictures I have to approve the prints before she's told they're ready. That way I can pull out ones that are of my staff that she didn't have their permission to take & also so I can remove the negatives so she can't try to get reprints. It worked twice already - she didn't say anything about them missing lol I honestly wouldn't wish this customer on anyone. lol

If this is seriously your biggest complaint about a co-worker then damn I'd like you to work with some of my current & ex-co-workers/employees.. they'd give you some real complaints.. from the kid that talks about his personal life all day long, the cashier that uses her allergies as an excuse to just stand around, the stockboy that would take 20 minute naps with on the clock 4 times a shift, the associate that would show up drunk, get sent home, only to show back up more drunk 3 hours later asking to borrow money, the ones that stole merchandise from the store, money from the registers and other worker's personal belongings out of their lockers, the ones that show up 10 minutes LATE every shift, or the sexist 50yr old guy that fought with every female customer & ignored me for being a female all while making comments about the 12 yr old girls that came in & how he hates women & that women don't belong in the workplace and would call female customers very nasty names & would give them a hard time when they went to pay at his register.. and then sued us after he was fired and had to go to court having to listen to him again call you nasty names just because you were born a female. And you think someone coming in on time is annoying? SMFH.

OMG I'm DYING of laughter. If your only complaint about this employee is that he shows up ON TIME & DOES HIS WORK then damn when can I hire him??? May I give you some advice someone once gave me: showing up early & working off the clock is actually illegal since employees are to be paid for the time they're working. Legally you cannot require someone to come in early, set up for work off the clock even though they showed up on time. When a doctor preps for surgery he's getting paid - he doesn't do that for free so why would your employee work off the clock?! Personally, I think you should get over yourself & stop throwing stones at a good employee. Just because YOU show up insanely early for a shift doesn't mean others have to.. and he shows up on time - not late - so get over it.

SMH I was a fine arts major in college so besides the regular actual art stores I sometimes also frequented the local chains and have found that every store that has this paint has the same issue... so gross. I'd love to catch someone doing it & rip them a new one.

OK, the whole coupon this is just silly. As a manager and retail slave for over 7yrs - what you did is just ridic. As long as the store gets reimbursed for the coupons then who cares if the family breaks up the orders?! Is it really worth you getting all pissed off over? No. Ya gotta learn to pick your battles.

ahahahahaha this was on Reddit a few weeks ago - around this time my boss had asked me to visit our competitors & take pictures of their BTS displays.. since 99% of stores in my area don't merchandise in accordance to what my boss was looking for I instead sent him this - - - and he still believes it came from a WalFart near me ahahahahahaha!

Ah was quite unsure what a SIN card was but now that makes sense...... sadly I don't know Canadian law since I'm American. But I disagree with espinaca - just because some people think shady stuff is "norm" doesn't mean it actually is "norm"... any legit job would want you on the books.. it's different if you were to be like a babysitter but at an established business that's NOT the norm & no one should tolerate it. Clearly this dude has his own agenda & good for the O.P. for getting out & I hope she can kick his butt in court or something so that other people don't have to deal with the same BS she had to go through.

Do you work in an at-will state? cos most states are & if you're not a contracted worker they can fire you at any time for no reason at all & it's legal but you'd still get unemployment. Also, he just sounds shady as hell lol

Lmfao it's sad when people take stuff out of context & automatically assume this big negative thing out of a comment... and then blow it up to create drama because they're insecure, bored, immature, etc whatever. I see it too often and it's because people never grew out of that high school phase. I hope they do realize they don't need her while she's out... but she's clearly not smart enough to realize it's illegal to fire someone for having a kid so there's no true way you're her actual replacement ah but then again some people will never amount to much in life & ya just have to accept that this is how they'll be forever & the only thing you can do is just achieve more hahaha.

Ok since I've been away from this site for awhile I have to comment: YOU simply ARE a DIVA & will not find permanent work if you continue to be a diva. Schedules are made 3+ weeks in advance.. if they schedule you for a shift & you can't work it it's up to you to find coverage. I'm pretty sure Hellgreens isn't the only place that has this policy..... 7yrs & I've NEVER been written up. Besides, regardless of your religion it doesn't mean because you're religious you automatically are entitled to have that religion's holidays off.. no, the store is still open & thus they need workers.

lol I hate GameFly's commercials.. and the whole concept of their company, anyways. but then again I don't believe in rentals unless it's a car when I'm on vacation for an extended time.. but I dislike Game Stop.. a few years ago I bought a game but then 2 weeks later received the same one as a gift.... when I went to return one they gave me this whole run around - mind you I had MY receipt & the game was UNopened. They refused to give me a full refund & only offered a trade in value of $10.. uhm the game was priced at $35.. smh so I understand where people get annoyed. Maybe someone from GS can explain why I couldn't return an unopened game with a receipt lol but I think it may have just been that employee being a jerk.. regardless I ended up giving the game to my nephew.

Oh you all can just shove it. People we all come on here to share rants about the retail hell we work in.. instead some of you decided to constantly bombard each other (and it's usually towards me) with nasty comments back whenever one posts their opinion. I've had enough of the abusive comments towards me.. it's been on going. You people all suck at life, no wonder you'll never do better then retail. Me? Ha.. I start my new job far away from retail hell as possible, making 3x as much as my shitty retail job was paying me. I don't need this pathetic site nor the inbreeds that inhabit it anymore. FUCK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!

Logan, I am not on meds you judgmental prick. Just SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP. I'm sick of your comments that attack people. Just get a life dude, seriously. And Beauty Slave- thank god you're not my employee, I'd cut your hours faster then you could say Happy Holidays.
And Logan, go FUCK yourself. This is not the first time you've bitched back at my opinion. It's my fucking opinion. If you don't like it go hang yourself. I don't go around bitching back at people for their opinions.

We all have the right to complain about whatever we want.. but complaining about receiving hours is a bit stupid. If you don't get hours then you don't make money. It's a STUPID RANT. I'm entitled to my opinion just like you all are. If you don't like my opinion, that's fine.. but you don't have to be rude about it.
No offense but if you don't like the hours then quit or find another job. There are literally thousands of people who would kill for a paying job right now. More hours = more money. Let someone else who will appreciate the job take the hours. I would be mad if I wasn't getting hours but hell I'd work any shift as long as it means money in my pocket. Don't be so ungrateful- when you complain to a manager it just means they'll tell the person who does the schedule and then your hours will be cut.
