Non-therapeutic female genital cutting on minors is already illegal in California, as well as under the federal Anti-FGM Act. The laws include genital nicking. The proposed law in SF would merely bring the city to a level of equal protection for boys in that city.
This is off-topic, but I don't know where else to ask it. What do you think of the proposed Sirius-XM merger? Is there anything you'd look forward to receiving through Sirius? Anything you're worried about losing? Personally, I'm all for it. I love Sirius, but I really want MLB coverage. I'm wondering because I don't have any particular affinity for stations on Sirius (other than the '80s station and Stern), but you and most XM subscribers seem more involved in stations. Also, I think it's an interesting question from a technology and media standpoint. You usually have insightful comments on both.

Aren't you ruining your liberal credibility by linking to Forbes.com in a positive spin? Seriously, though, thanks for the heads up. Kurt Vonnegut!
