One of the sweetest memories I have from this summer was our weekend get-away to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary - http://www.hopefullydevoted.com/2010/08/one-thousand-gifts-seventeen-years.html

I like solid, biblical teaching that stretches me to grow, so some of my favorites are John Piper, Elise Fitzpatrick, Nancy Leigh DeMoss,Jerry Bridges, just to name few.

It's so sad that a generation or two of girls were raised, and are now being raised, to seek to be king instead of princess. And those girls, in turn, don't raise their boys to be king; instead they are raising boys to be more like girls and the boys grow up to be a Mr. Milktoast. We now have wimpy boys marrying dominant girls and God's entire design has been cast aside. Feminism has won the battle in our culture and only the concerted efforts of biblical parenting can overcome it as we seek to raise our children. I echo your vow. By the way, you may find the original definition for "gentility" interesting - http://www.1828-dictionary.com/d/search/word,gentility. Our culture's view literally re-defines words over time. I often look to the original 1828 Webster's dictionary; it's a refreshing resource (though disheartening when you realize how far our country has strayed from its biblical roots).
